Some final notes before the paywall goes live April 12
Okay, gang, a few final notes before the Shawnee Mission Post paywall we're all so excited about becomes a reality: First, the paywall will officially go live next Wednesday, April 12. At that point, everyone will get three free story views per month before being prompted to subscribe.
Everybody's got to make a buck. What's telling about how well thought out this particular effort is, is the fact that he's so quick to change the pricing structure before it's even started.

ReplyDeletenot sure advertisers will be happy because the random surfers are a lot of the people who see the ads.
ReplyDeleteWe had a small local startup try the same thing several years back. The ... entrepreneur? got together several long-term advertisers (we got on board), but they just couldn't put enough content together to keep casual readers interested. I think the guy probably overestimated the amount of care our community has for itself (laughably little).
