TKC QUESTION: DID GHOST OF YORDANO VENTURA RUIN KANSAS CITY ROYALS OPENING DAY & CURSE 2017 SEASON?!?!

Today's Kansas City Royals home opener at the K was kind of a bummer and felt more like a funeral service than a day at the ballpark.

During the off-season there has been a great deal of debate on the chances of the home team returning to their 2015 winning ways. While the Royals have always played best as underdogs and love proving critics wrong . . . Most reasonable fans agree that this season is the last chance for THIS GROUP OF PLAYERS to reclaim post-season glory.

However, fatalistic nostalgia and bittersweet sentimentality is a tough sell for Kansas City baseball fans who love the pastime specifically because it offers them a chance to tune out all of the world's troubles.

And so, 2017 opening day served as a memorial of former glory instead of a fun kick-off for the new season. Like it or not, the shadow of death looming over the team is yet another challenge the Royals must overcome if they want to improve over last year's disappointment, avoid living in the past and look toward future winning.
