Jackson County Jail Crisis And Leadership Fail Will Prove Costly For Incumbents Next Year At The Ballot Box
Insiders have been shocked by the total and utter incompetence exhibited by all the county elected officials regarding the ongoing string of deaths and sexual assaults at the jail, and the complete lack of any accountability or transparency to the public any of them have shown.
Where is Frank White in this fiasco, who every time he is asked for a comment is out golfing while people are literally dying in his jail? Where is the legislature who is supposed to act as a watch dog over the executive?
Most importantly, where is the supposed champion of women and the downtrodden Crystal Williams? When women were being raped and victimized on her watch, what did she do? Give me ONE corrective action or even ONE critical question any of them have even ASKED? All of them are asleep at the switch, cashing their government checks and patting themselves on the back in hopes of easy reelections next year.
A core group of politicos and activists are taking notice of the compete failure of anyone at the county to do anything to fix this fiasco. The group is now quietly looking for people (candidates) who will be willing to ask the tough questions and provide much needed scrutiny to the now secretive and leaderless courthouse.
Also, they are looking for people actually willing to show up everyday looking to fix a county that so clearly is completely broken, and not just cash in on free tickets and junkets. 2018 looks to be a banner year for challengers at the courthouse where usually nobody is paying attention and so most of them run unopposed. In a political community known for its politeness, a quiet RAGE is building among those that make a difference. NOBODY is now safe next year.

The fact that nobody asks Frank any questions about this or even Crystal is one of the biggest failures in local government and a sign that KC is really dealing with a dangerous corruption problem.
ReplyDeleteI realize they're inmates and nobody really gives a shit about them but the liability that the county has been exposed to is something that will be seen in property taxes for a generation. Homeowners will be paying for this dearly in the future because of friendly juries and because our elected officials have done NOTHING just like this post suggests.
What's worse is that the Democratic Party talks a big game about prison reform and ending the death penalty but here in their own back yard, in a Democratic stronghold, there are some of the worse abuses that we have seen in the state.
The Pitch recently did a lot of reporting on Missouri inmates as a way to take on Republican officials, in KCMO that kind of investigation is not present because it would implicate Frank White and so many other Democrats.
This is a controversy that should not be happening but it goes on because of widespread hypocrisy and the failure of these elected leaders to do something with their position other than bolster than own campaigns and careers.

Here's something for you to think about - there are people from the worst humanity has ,to people who have just made mistakes,some bigger than others.there are people in there for up-paid tickets & fines, people who didn't finish their community service, people who didn't pay child support, people who did a Lil shoplifting.there are a lot of people in there on petty ass charges, who cant make bail.I've been in that position,and in there,too.I have many people who care about me.
The majority of people in there, haven't been convicted yet,so there's that,also. You should be careful,sir,with the way you think..it's not hard to find yourself in trouble. Just sayin',you could even find your own ass in there ,someday,and with a little luck,you'll still have some money and people who still care,or are still around to care about you.
