TKC BREAKING AND EXCLUSIVE NEWS!!! WELCOME ABOARD THE KANSAS CITY AREA TRANSPORTATION AUTHORITY CRISIS!!!

Controversy threatens denizens of the largest public transit agency in Kansas City and local supporters, workers and politicos are bracing for impact behind the scenes.

To wit . . .

CHECK THIS QUICK KICK-ASS INSIDER GUIDE TO KCATA TURMOIL AND TROUBLE ON THE ROAD AHEAD!!!

After comparing notes with a few locals, here's a guide to concerns threatening the institution that keeps thousands of people rolling along local streets every day . . . For those who understand these issues, we hope that this summary demonstrates that TKC isn't taking sides with any faction fighting for control but simply reporting the issues plaguing this organization and their associates.

Longstanding Complaints Over Hot Mess Hiring Practices Reaching Climax

There are at least a half dozen high-ranking, qualified and wicked-smart Kansas City power players who were passed over for top KCATA jobs . . . Angering this crowd is always a big mistake given that they have contacts and resources to take their concerns to the next level. KCATA hiring has been a hotbed for serious fighting over the years and this latest round looks to be worse than recent job disputes.

Jackson County Politicos Lawyer Up

Another season of fear strikes the courthouse and our local lawyer friends tell us that more than a few Jackson County power players are hiring counsel in order to cope with the transit crisis and complaints underway.

Remember Rock Island Corridor Promises

To be fair . . . They're trying to re-brand the Rock Island Corridor as more of a hiking and mountain bike path than the toy train vaporware dreams that politicos touted just last year. At the outset of this year, former politicos were cleared by Missouri Ethics officials in a beef over contracts but the role of the KCATA and other politicos in development schemes like still mostly undeveloped Rock Island have sparked more questions about the direction of our local transit agency . . .

And so . . .

And so, BECAUSE FEDERAL FUNDS ARE A BIG PART OF KCATA FUNDING . . . All of this makes for a bumpy ride ahead as Kansas City transit enthusiasts confront controversy, political gamesmanship and employee complaint roadblocks amid a great deal of expeditious forward progress over the past few years.

  1. Excellent. This should be another scandal that Frank White can ignore until somebody with some real understanding of the issues steps in and does his job for him.

    1. ATA has been screwed up for quite some time. Just learning this TKC?

What's worse than all of your insider stuff is that people like bus service but don't understand why it's not better, why they aren't working on more progressive steps to improve the bus routes and how they serve KC. We haven't really had much progress since our first attempts at BRT and that was close to 10 years ago.

The ATA is stuck in a loop and the politics of the organization is a big part of the reason why.

    2. ^^^ blame it on the streetcar. They have taken all of the transit attention in the city and directed it toward a small stretch of road that's 2.2 miles short.

Look at the bright side TKC! The warmer weather means more fight footage on the buses and at the bus stops. It's like getting a mixed martial arts front row seat every time you ride the bus.

  3. It's about tourist money. That's right folks that's free money. Tourist money.

We need to import more tourists it is plain and simple.

  4. Speaking of "Inconvenient Truths."
Why do we have ATA bus stops every 1/4 mile along U.S. 40Hwy east of Van Brunt Blvd all the way to Noland Rd.?

It should be against the law.
Ever try to drive this route during rush hour?
    Talk about Road Rage!
Try it some time when you have plenty of time to kill.
If I had the time I'd gather a petition to STOP this nonsense.
Stop the ATA Bus on US 40!

  5. Filthy dangerous buses, we need to stop talking about hiring and start talking about FIRING.

  6. Then how will people get about? Not everyone has cars. So screw the elderly and handicapped.

  7. ^^^ Good point. The KCATA is very much needed but KC needs it run correctly, the current board isn't doing their job. There's way too much politics and not enough focus on the passengers and the community.

  8. Why take this site seriously? It caters to those who thinks it's okay to put a bullet in the back of the head of every "negro" in Kansas City. Not one of your free speech readership spoke against this but agreed. anyone advertising on this site is just as bad.. I turn off the channel and give up on you. You and the ad guys win. You stand for something else. Teflon Don Juan. Junior.

    1. By give up, do you mean read all day and bitch constantly?

Good luck with that, TKC appreciates your business.

    2. What bullshit. One stupid comment and you run shrieking for your safe space. Good riddance.

    3. Of course it's not ok. Why every poster or reader has to answer for one particular comment from some wacko among everything on the blog is beyond me, though.

    4. But is it still okay to put a bullet in the back of the head of every "negro" in Kansas City? That's still okay, right?

  9. Don't forget, the ata is building apartments down on the river! Hum???
    Could this be a distraction?

  10. ^^^ Good point. Another development SCAM in Kansas City.

  11. Lets call it what it is. Robbie Makinen is a corrupt lying piece of shit. The world is just catching up to this reality.

  12. ^^^ I could think of so many worse. Problem with the ATA is that KC is not serious about quality transit or running the things efficiently. Lottery mentality from most of the "executives" who just want to collect a check and do nothing in return.

  13. And this is how Kansas City became detroit.

    ReplyDelete
  14. If you think the ATA is bad. KC can't even get a good look at the books for the streetcar. They're top secret.

  15. Robbie is a total joke. Only in KC can a guy with a GED get a sweet "position" that pays him a quarter mil for attending parties and hitting on skanks. What a country!!
