TKC BREAKING AND EXCLUSIVE NEWS!!! KANSAS CITY SKIPS LIBERTY MEMORIAL WWI CENTENNIAL!!! DOWNTOWN DENIZENS REPORT SKIMPY CROWD DESPITE HYPE!!!

Today the 100 year anniversary of the so-called "Great War" was mostly forgotten in Kansas City despite a media blitz and a crowd that was mostly packed with people paid and/or required to attend.

To wit . . .

KICK-ASS TKC TIPSTERS OFFER 1ST PERSON REPORTING AND PHOTOGRAPHIC EVIDENCE OF THE SKIMPY CROWD FOR TODAY'S LIBERTY MEMORIAL WWI CENTENNIAL!!!

Here's the word followed up by photo proof . . .

We were ALL told to not come to the office today (over 1,000 people) because of the chaos and confusion that would reign near Crown Center and the Liberty Memorial. All streets closed...tight security...important dignitaries on board...don't go near it, unless you had a ticket.

It looks like maybe a few hundred actually showed up.

They promised that 3,000 tickets were "sold out." Ticketholders had to be there early this morning because the gates would close at 9am and remain that way.

What happened? Did you see the live stream?

Go to 4 hours, 26 minutes, 01 seconds - right after the B-2 flyover.
I think that shot tells the entire story.

Now . . .

THE HIGHLIGHT OF THE CEREMONY WAS A B-2 BOMBER FLYOVER THAT REVEALED EXCEPTIONALLY SPARSE ATTENDANCE!!!

Take a look:

To be fair, the bomber flyover was kinda cool and maybe a missed opportunity . . .

Still, the militaristic celebration clearly missed the mark as Kansas City residents skipped the war memorial and probably had a better time enjoying the nice weather at a park that isn't dedicated to tragic death and wasted lives ruined by an incompetent and uncaring ruling class.

You decide . . .

  1. Another KCMo disappointment.

    Too bad.

Why waste people's time with hours of letter reading.

    A 4 hour ceremony? That's a marathon, not a celebration.

Who would want to go to a 100 year old funeral. It was a political parade, nothing more. Just like the first time around.

  3. Too many wars already, why celebrate another?

  4. Wish we'd had a good war going on twenty years ago, Tony, so you could have had your dumb ass blown off entirely by some raghead smarter than you.

That way you'd be dead see.

  6. Circle-jerk. Who cares about WWI? Nobody alive knew anybody who was in it. It's fucking ancient history. Just another stupid promotional stunt that failed to attract any tourists ... or even any locals, other than the usual suspects (corporate shills) and some grifters from City Hall who were getting paid to be there. College kids today wonder: Was that the one in Veet Nam?. Guess we'll just have to live with only 24 million tourists (yuk yuk) for another year.

  7. fucking shame. KC respects nothing.

  8. WWI = wanton waste. Lost 2 relatives. Family was very bitter at General Pershing. He literally figured we have more soldiers and Germany will run out eventually. Pershing called that strategy

  9. You mean to say that the streetcar didn't bring in 165,000 visitors to this ceremony?

    ReplyDelete
  10. People skipped it because they didn't want to get robbed or shot in Kansas City.

  11. I'm 58 and my grandmother and grandfather were in it. Watch the old Frankenstein movies. Those guys were in the war. Frankenstein himself was the image of someone they knew in the trenches. In fact, I liked the old Museum when you walked through the trenches then through the other side to the WWII and looked at the mural.

  12. From the looks of the stage and large sound rig, people probably thought Godsmack was going to perform and anyone attending would be at risk of being hit in the back of the head with a half eaten turkey leg.

Military-industrial complex/Israel/Gulf Cooperation Council win again!!

U.S. has launched 60 Tomahawk cruise missiles at designated targets!

  15. WW3 may very well be underway, as kind of a slow rolling start beginning with the Syrian episode.

I can only pray that I'll get to play Red Dead Redemption 2, which comes out in November, before things get really berserk.

  24. This whole thing was a belated April fools day spoof. There was not really much planned, but the idea of baiting the libtard shitflakes into standing out there freezing their nads off in anticipation of a good protest was just irresistible.

  25. ^^or maybe this link was an April fools day spoof to get the repubtard shitflakes(shitflakes is a progressive term for repubtards, you are using it without permission and in the wrong syntax shitflake) to post incoherent blog posts. Hmm???.

  30. the only place I know and the only people I know--the commenters here--who could diss such a fantastic event and an incredible commemoration out of our city.

the only place I know where the cynics show up to say "Sure, the sun is shinging. It's just not sunny enough."
