Show-Me Sen. Roy Blunt's Online Privacy Vote

Our blog community asks . . . Did Roy Blunt Sell Out Our Personal Privacy? Here's the really obvious answer . . .

Here Are the Republicans Who Sold Out Your Online Privacy to the Broadband Industry

House Republicans voted on Tuesday to allow internet service providers like Comcast, Verizon and AT&T to sell your private data to the highest bidder for tracking and marketing purposes. The House action follows a similar vote in the Senate last week.

  1. This vote is a hard vote for ANYONE to defend. It was a give-back to the industry who has provided LOTS of campaign funding. Sadly, this is a non-partisan issue that neither side should have allowed to let happen.

  2. Like there is any privacy on the internet, anyway.

  4. Ha! Keep living in your imaginary "VPN" world.
You are being tracked. All of the time.

  6. TOR if you want to guard yourself from guv spying, but every keystroke will be recorded by operators of shady exit nodes. And surfing is generally slower. A for-pay private VPN is collecting your data to sell to advertisers but protects the rest of the information from guv/shady people eyes. There truly is no anonymous method to interact with the internet. Just spend the bucks at a strip club for views of poonanny instead.

  7. @5:17 Dude you're echoing what some millennial dreamer or two put in some under-researched articles. TOR strengths are it's biggest weakness.

Get an off shore encrypted VPN with servers outside of the E.U. and U.S.A. or a mix where you can dodge geo blocking when required. I speed test at better than 80 percent of the ISPs in the U.S.A. when connected in Asia. Swapping your fingerprint is simple. If you want to take it a step further use a dd-wrt new version router with socks 5 and secure against kill leaks or use the VPN company's software layer for your O/S and test it.

Now anyone wanting to monitor would have to first pick out the right data streams from the daily dose of Internet traffic. Assuming that some shit heel could locate the stream, sniff the packets and decrypt 256 bit DEC (which the NSA just wishes they could do in any kind of timely manner) he probably would not live long enough to put a sentence together. Now, get a VPN company that guarantees in writing that they will never log or sell your information or traffic data, will allow Bitcoin or gift card payment, only authenticates your connection and does not log it and short of you coming to the attention of God your privacy is pretty secure short of having Interpol after your ass. If that is the case they will find an easier way to nail you anyway. There are several solid VPNs that are very inexpensive and will fill the bill.

The alternative is watch your surfing because Xfinity or Spectrum will be handing your info over to the copyright trolls, spam gods and leaches so fast you will have to drain your 401K just to unscrew the mess.
