KANSAS CITY TOY TRAIN STREETCAR RIDERSHIP TRENDS EXPOSED!!!

Great TKC blog community link suggestion offers hope that national media is catching on to a local scam amid a clandestine and corrupt streetcar extension vote that's currently underway . . .

Money line . . .

"One way to determine whether streetcars are transportation or toy is to look at when riders use the system. In Kansas City, the highest ridership is on Friday nights and Saturdays (and Sundays). People drive their cars downtown, park and ride around on the streetcar for entertainment."

So You Want to Build a Trolley...

In the classic 1944 movie, "Meet Me in St. Louis," Judy Garland sings, "I went to lose a jolly hour on the trolley. And lost my heart instead." American cities today are seriously enamored of trolleys-modern streetcars have popped up in 16 cities, with more soon to open in Los Angeles, New York City, Detroit, Fort Lauderdale and Milwaukee.

  1. TKC, you need to learn. Fake transit is great if you're getting paid to make sure other people pay for it.

  2. That's actually a big part of what the current street car was designed to do. It currently hits major entertainment destinations like Sprint Center, P&L, River Market, & Union Station. While it has a a function connecting people to jobs also, there is no question that it is a part of the entertainment network in KC. That's not necessarily a bad thing, but we do need to be honest about it's primary role at this point.

  3. How about a bike lane instead? Have you seen the size of peoples asses?

  4. Connects? To Sprint? Hardly...it should have gone down Grand, but the Kempers didn't allow that.

Now that they want to extend it to the Plaza, we need to call it what it is--the White People's Bus. Or some other name like that--what other good names can you come up with?

    Can you imagine?
We could have the White People's Bus race the ATA MAX bus down Main St. hill to the Plaza, Nichols' fountain.

And in days when the compressors fail, the White People's Bus will win. At least till they count the dead bodies.

  6. The streetcar has finally received national recognition. Everybody in KC already knew it was an expensive tourist attraction used be freeloaders.

  7. Way past time to make the tourist pay for it.

  8. As usual, the KC Star missed this significant national recognition. They just reprint press releases from the trolley folks.

  9. The choo-choo is nothing but a joyride for yokels because it doesn't really go anywhere. Why is it so hard to understand that?

  10. Streetcars are FAKE transit.
