Kansas City Rail Activist Clay Chastain Launches Latest Legal Battle Against City Hall

Take a look at another legal fight from Kansas City's most prolific transit activist and the only guy in the past 25 years to win a citywide fixed rail vote . . .

Chastain asks court to command Mayor James and City to place his original rail plan on the August 8 ballot and not their corrupted version

Today I had to file another lawsuit against the City because Mayor James and the City are at it again - trying to manipulate a rail petition election to make it fail because it's not theirs. This time Kansas City's Humpty Dumpty acting like mayor and fellow arrogant minions took it upon themselves to corrupt the ballot language, yet again, to make my transit petition mean what they want it to mean - that is, vague, non-innovative and unattractive to voters. I guess the mayor feels emboldened since he just won an infrastructure election my 11-year old daughter could have led and won.

I feel emboldened because the Missouri Supreme Court recently ruled that the City, like it has in the past, can no longer legally challenge valid petitions from the people pre-election. But our arrogant leaders at City Hall are now trying to do an end around that Missouri Supreme Court ruling by placing my transit petition on the ballot BUT deciding what the transit petition (ballot language) will say.

The true test of a real leader is whether one can envision and design something great, persuade the voters to approve it, build it and then revitalize a struggling city around it. I will do that if I can get the courts to place before voters my original rapid rail / electric bus / bike way - petition plan (as I designed it) and not the City's stupid, vague and corrupted version designed to turn off voters and continue leaving our city hobbled without a modern green 21st century public transportation system.

If I can beat Kansas City's sly mayor in the courtroom, acting as my own attorney, you can have confidence in my intelligence, vision and ability to lead this City to a new heyday around the smartest, most cost-effective and most city-changing rail proposal ever designed in the nation.

Clay Chastain...a real, competent and honest leader for Kansas City...for a change.

  1. Clay, if it were anyone but you, I'd come to your defense. Your narcissism and insistence on being the poster child is what gets in your way. You don't know how to "give an idea away", work behind the scenes and let others embrace your vision.

I appreciate the idea that it's good about the Missouri court saying "It is what it is--do not rewrite it." IF it is doable in the first place. Which most of your shit is not.

But don't be surprised, dude. You have worn out your welcome here. Go fix where you actually LIVE and WORK. Go raise that daughter--in Virginia. Leave us alone.

Ironically, the toy train issue, a separate thing, is facing an engineering challenge--at 45th and Main. The train can make it down the hill, loaded with hoodrats who terrorize Power and Light, on their joyride to terrorize prom queens and kings on the Plaza. But they just realized, the Little Train That Could--doesn't have enough horsepower to make it back up the hill with the scalps and pocketbooks and prom purses of the citizens purloined on the Plaza!

Gee, Clay--maybe they will steal your idea of the gondola for that part of the ride!!! And let's not forget that left turn you once drew on a cocktail napkin--for a train that only does gentle curves. That FUBAR actually passed on a ballot, but was later deemed unbuildable.

So--as Arsenio Hall often said, "Hmmm!" Should ballot initiatives be proofed? Edited? It used to be in the 1970's Wheeler generation that ballots initiatives were edited BEFORE being circulated to the public. Now that made sense. Don't waste taxpayer time getting all excited about what is not capable of being built.

Ha--getting the ballot wording approved before asking the public to sign a petition? But that would mean The Arrogant One (Clay, not James this time) would have to SUBMIT IT FOR LEGAL REVIEW AND ENGINEERING REVIEW IF NOT FISCAL REVIEW, before he prowls the parking lots of Brookside grocery stores, looking for cute yoga-pants wearing divorcees to hustle for a date.

Hearne is dating Clay Chastain's daughter...and I'm jealous. But he had better hair. And she was afraid of fast cars.

  9. I love it on Saturdays, when Chris Hernandez can post what he REALLY thinks, from his home rather than Shitty Hall, and he uses grammatical errors to cover his tracks...

  10. as a tourist attraction, either cable cars or a funiculaire would be even more fun than streetcars.

or, we could become the home of the world's largest escalator (covered, obviously).

  11. Clay should move back and run for mayor.

  12. Tracy hates Clay because he gets more attention than she does, well that and the fact he never tried to do her.

  14. By the time Chastain scores a win the EPA will have outlawed trains. He'd be better off getting an AK-47, going bonkers and cleaning the corrupt libtard shitheals out of city hall.
