Kansas City Bike Plan Hates Drivers

In the aftermath of KC Bike Plan discussions, public television asks:

Kansas City has one of the highest rates of automobile commuting in the nation. So, what does that mean for the cyclists sharing the road?

Other than nasty roadside conversations, fighting over resources via "progressive identity politics" and even more local hypocrites who mistakenly believe that weekend warrior advocacy entitles them greater local influence . . . You decide:

It's the Journey: Biking in the Metro

Kansas City has one of the highest rates of automobile commuting in the nation. So, what does that mean for the cyclists sharing the road? Public Works? The Cost of Our Aging Infrastructure is a months-long project taking you underneath the pavement to tackle the state of our water and sewers.

  1. Daily bike rider here.
I've got no problem biking here....except for the pot holes and the storm sewer areas are fairly dangerous.
Spending money on bicycle shit seems like a waste.
Get a mountain bike with bigger tires and move to the sidewalk if you feel unsafe.
Fixing the streets and ADA sidewalks need to happen anyway, regardless if you ride a bike.
If you change the law that allows me to ride on the sidewalk that is free! It don't cost shit.

  2. Nicely said 8:13. I hardly ever see bikes using the lanes. And the joggers are in the street even though there's a sidewalk next to them. Since they aren't using the fucking thing bikes should.

  3. It's time to start licensing bicycles in the city. $50 per year with a $150 fine if caught w/o a license. They want special Lane's, painted safe areas, etc. it is time to pay up just like autos and motorcycles"

    1. Retarded, how about car drivers start paying licenses. Plus, we have a toll for the bridges.

  4. 10:06 brings up a good point. If you ride the major streets and cross streets you must have a registered bike to do so. Then that money is what is used to pay for more idiotic lanes to be painted. Plus the bike operators should be required to have at least liability coverage on said bike.

  5. I agree. In fact- I would gladly pay even a bit more. Since I don't use a car- the gasoline tax used to fund streets and some of the state taxes used to pay for cars using the streets would be refunded to me.
