HISTORIC NORTHEAST NEIGHBORHOODS AGAINST KANSAS CITY GO BONDS!!!

We'll have more on this in the next 48 hours but for now what we are hearing from community insiders and political watchers is important and needs to be put on blast . . .

NORTHEAST KANSAS CITY HAS BEEN ALMOST COMPLETELY OVERLOOKED IN THE KANSAS CITY G.O. BOND CAMPAIGN!!!

Stuffing everybody's mail box with junk mail doesn't count as attention.

Moreover, there's a debate about GO Bonds hurting the Museum in addition to the sentiment from locals that the GO bond effort has overlooked the needs of Northeast.

To be fair, there was a smallish community meeting back in February that seemed somewhat productive but most mailers and talking points DON'T MENTION MANY IMPROVEMENTS FOR THIS KANSAS CITY URBAN ENCLAVE despite some urgent needs that seem to fit the issues addressed by the $800-MILLION property tax increase over the next 40 years.

  1. Sounds like more of Stalder's propaganda babble to me. He should go suck off Trump some more.

  2. Lol, well, to be perfectly candid, I've been extremely torn on this issue. When I ran for city council, I was talking about the severe need for sidewalk improvements while everyone else was butthurt over the fact that the city lost their $550M streetcar expansion effort.

Only *now* is the city is responding to the citizens' demands for sidewalks, but only to the tune of $150M, and only if we give them three times that amount for other projects in the process.

At least *one* of the neighborhood associations in Northeast has endorsed the GO Bonds, but many in Indian Mound are looking for a better deal.

The 1/8 cent sales tax that is part of a citizen led petition would likely benefit east side infrastructure more than the GO Bonds will, and without committing generations into debt for other less important pet projects.

  3. This is one of those "You'll just have to trust us." propositions... well, no I don't have to trust you.

  4. Having grown up in Old Northeast, I can tell you that the area will be left with nothing after this election is over. The City may come out and fix a sidewalk or two, but that will be it. Unfortunately, the voters may go for the bait and pass this robbery of the taxpayers. They don't have to worry about Old NE residents. Only poor people and immigrants live there, right?

  9. You show no recent discussion or opposition, let alone organized opposition, to the GO Bond package. I get it, this is a controversial topic, but this posting is just plain made-up nonsense. Waste of my time.
