Golden Ghetto Leawood Johnson County Congregation Celebrates $90-MILLION Easter With World's Biggest Stained Glass Window

This glorious day Easter Day must be just a bit more joyful for the denizens of the Church of the Resurrection in Leawood who enjoy a MASSIVE $90 development project and the world's biggest stained glass window to mark the return of our Lord and Savior who was a broke-ass carpenter who spent his time hanging out with revolutionaries, hookers and other miscreants before he was put to death by the government for sedition.

You decide . . .

  1. He is risen in Leawood!

  2. "Come to me all of you rich, white, entitled motherfuckers, and give me more money, so that I can build lavish buildings, to honor myself."

  3. Nice big window depicting s white Jesus as if Jesus was European, when scientific and anthropological evidence documents that people living in that part of the world did not have European physical features.

  4. Good thing there's no more suffering people elsewhere in the world that we can spend this money on shit that serves no purpose.

  5. And this is the other joke of the day.

  6. I find this utterly ridiculous. It was built with private funds is the one good thing I can say about it. That said, the day has long since passed that churches shouldn't pay taxes. I hear actual good things about this church but let's quit pretending churches aren't businesses and make them pay taxes.

  7. ^ correct, and we also need to make all these "non-profits" pay taxes too as they spread their political leanings.

  8. ^What exactly would you tax? "Nonprofits" by definition have no profits.

  9. There is no such thing as a true "non-profit". I don't give a shit if it's a church or a whorehouse. Tax it.

  10. Thats easy 10:34 and surprised you have to have it explained to you. When a group receives something free and clear that's capital gain no matter how you look at it. Now what you do with that gain is where the tax part comes in to me. If a non-profit spends over lets say 100k a year on a building then that amount over 100k to me becomes a taxable expense. If they throw lots of parties and huge entertainment events that's a taxable expense simply because in my opinion they are blowing the money to keep that non-profit status going. I'm going to stop here, I sense a story in the making here. More on this later.

  11. I just love it when strangers critique how someone else should spend their money. As the song says....."Mind your own business so you won't be minding mine".

  12. Good discussion about taxing these so-called "non-profits"

Super dave is right, this is just self promotion for the church, not a public service. Never heard about the place for the works they do, only for this big monument to their own egos.

  13. @1:00 - if they are not paying taxes, they are spending everyone else's money.

  14. 1:01^^like some others don't know about the bigly bucks shared through the myriad good works those COR Methodists and friends are doing. Check their website, and if you want to make fast friends, go visit one or all three COR locations. The COR has been generous in philanthropic and mercy missions locally, nationally, and globally. My Catholic friends, some family and I partake in select service projects, classes, and social events at mostly the Leawood campus. Rev. Hamilton and everyone on staff, we've had the privelege to know, are very welcoming to all.

    P.S. Papa Franciso's Vatican City digs ain't no beat-down barrio, either, y'all!

  16. Give to God what is God. Give to preachers what belongs to preachers. This is not in good taste.

  17. Thank you, Jesus, for U.S. jobs!

Seems loads of taxes get paid when churches build large projects. Those earnings by architects,
engineers, attorneys, skilled trades, and others garnered much tax revenues for the metro. Yuuuge taxes have been paid on supplies and services, also. Plus, fees for permits and inspections were collected. The mega-church is fitting for what surrounds it-- enclaves of much larger and far more expensive than average sized homes.

  18. You can blame the higher water bills largely on EPA mandates. What was the current Mayor and Council to do????

  19. Silly, gaudy and ugly. Not about God.

  20. I wonder if Chris & Dana attend this monstrosity. .

Seems right up her superficial alley.
