Again, the ridership estimates overlook the winter drop-off, claim that KC has better numbers than Dallas, Seattle & D.C. AND . . . Constant breakdowns are mostly unmentioned amid most news hype. Take a look:
KC Streetcar planning to add two new cars
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The Kansas City Streetcar Authority is hoping to add two new cars to the near one-year-old line after ridership has far exceeded expectations. It would cost about $11 million per new car. They say ridership has nearly tripled their initial projections, and it will take more streetcars to keep up with demand.
Those phony ride stats are beyond laughable.
ReplyDeleteKC Streetcar = 6,800 daily riders
ReplyDeleteSeattle = 2,419 daily riders
Washington DC = 2,285 daily riders
Dallas = 300 daily riders
Atlanta = 1,000 daily riders
Salt Lake City = 1,000 daily riders
Cincinnati = 1,664 daily riders
Outlandish claims of the KC Streetcar folks are insulting the intelligence of the citizens of KCMO!
KCMO meant to say 6,800 monthly. Maybe... It is a disaster and they can't/won't admit it. Detroit is rebounding from the crooks that ran it into the ground. KCMO is driving into the black hole rapidly. Remember who will buy these new bonds. Probably KCMO pension funds. Fake assets buying false security. KCMO IS BROKE ALREADY! You don't borrow money when you can't pay what you owe.
ReplyDeleteI told you so
ReplyDeleteThe street car is hear to stay.you can't worry about something you have no control over the tourist like it
ReplyDeleteLOL @ Super Dave. He did tell us so!
ReplyDeleteEmpty trolleys up and down Main St all week long until the weekend when the tourist arrive.
ReplyDeleteIf you deduct the free loading tourist, KC's ridership is probably less than Dallas's 300 per day.
ReplyDeleteStart charging to ride the toy train. Then count heads.
ReplyDeleteGuess the "City of Fountains" would rather have a trolley than operating fountains.
ReplyDelete7:29 +1
ReplyDeleteGood point, 7:29, And that is a damn shame. The wide assortment of fountains was one of the few feathers left in KCMO's cap. Shame on the city for not having them functioning.
ReplyDeleteOh boo hoo you fucking whiners
ReplyDeleteYou lost get over it
11:14 I will if you will. WE WON!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteHere's what the city should do, but they won't. They should ask every employer with 50 or more employees along the current and proposed streetcar route to give them a zip code count of where their employees live. Then merge all those numbers together and get a zip code count of where people who work along the streetcar route actually live. If the numbers show that most of them live outside the streetcar route in Gladstone, Independence, Overland Park,Brookside, Waldo etc., then it would prove that very few people would ever ride the streetcar to work. If it's not going to be used for transportation to get people to jobs, it's a worthless tourist expense.
ReplyDeleteNot a surprise coming from basement boy. Funny how on twitter no one replies or likes Tony's Anti streetcar tweets. Keep posting the titty pics and see you at the streetcar expansion groundbreaking
ReplyDeleteTax rate downtown is outrageous. 11.50%. Recession is coming. KCMO will be a disaster when the sales tax revenues plummet.
