DOUBLE TAKE: KANSAS CITY TAX FIGHTERS SUPPORT STREETCAR TRANSPORTATION DEVELOPMENT DISTRICT REFORM!!!

Again, under the radar there's a KANSAS CITY STREETCAR ELECTION CURRENTLY UNDERWAY that has been kept secret from most of the voting public.

Yesterday, we talked about surprising Missouri push back against a process that has been continually abused . . .

STL Public Radio: Missouri State Auditor calls for overhaul of Transportation Development District laws

Quote:

“The average citizen is getting taken advantage of here,” Missouri State Auditor Nicole Galloway said at a news conference to release the report. “It’s outrageous that there’s almost $1 billion in project costs that taxpayers are on the hook for. They don’t know about it and they didn’t vote for it.”

Now . . .

KANSAS CITY TAX FIGHTERS HOPE LOCAL VOTERS WILL HELP THE EFFORT TO ENCOURAGE TDD REFORM!!!

Money line . . .

"We've been requesting TDD reform since 2013, and it sounds like someone is listening. Folks should write their state legislator and state senator to let them know we support reform of these laws that allow for legal gerrymandering, voter suppression, taxation without representation, third party collection and management of public funds, and a host of other questionable practices."

While the City Council is skeptical of the current vote and there are more than a few challenges with fewer options for Federal funding available for the TOY TRAIN . . . The debate against the streetcar extension persists.

  1. Just a warning to those who write their elected representatives. If you sign your name to those complaints and they are presented to the mayor's office, don't be surprised if they contact your employer and make complaints against you.

Any criticism of the current administration will be dealt with very harshly. They believe they have a mandate from the voters and they are going after their opponents with full force and every weapon at their disposal.

  2. Surprising to see that a democrat is leading the way to reform. I guess it's obvious that she doesn't spend a lot of time in KCMO.

  3. What I find most interesting is the lack of consistency. The Show-Mes of the world think its really bad to have unaccountable/not elected boards spending public money but also advocate for Charter schools, private schools and virtual schools who also have very little accountability with public funds. They should explain what is different here.

  4. Why weren't our current State legislators all over this? Oh yeah, we have Kiki Curly-brain and first openly gay Randy Dunn-my-buns.

  5. KC leaders just want their kickbacks, they aren't interested in fixing things!
