TKC MUST READ!!! KANSAS CITY BIZ JOURNAL AIRPORT FAKE NEWS CRASHES AND BURNS BY WAY OF BLOGGER EXPOSÉ!!!

Some of the best content of the day is a TOTAL TAKE DOWN OF THE KANSAS CITY BIZ JOURNAL by one of the smartest bloggers in Kansas City.

To wit . . .

KANSAS CITY BIZ JOURNAL BELIEVES LOCAL TAXPAYERS SHOULD SPEND A COUPLE BILLION DOLLARS TO COMPETE WITH PHONY STATS!!!

Here's the push back . . .

Save KCI: What’s The Difference between 28.8 and 3.63?

Money line:

"Some background: Recently, the Kansas City Business Journal ran a front page article entitled, “Airport Power Rankings: How Modern and Convenient is KCI?” Their answer was a bottom-third ranking and a D+ grade. Curious as to who ranked better and worse, I noticed St. Louis, who we are told is taking all of our non-stop flights, ranked 4th from the bottom and 11 places below KCI with a grade of D. More astounding though, I noted the top two airports in the U.S. according to this ranker, and the only two to earn an “A”, are Atlanta and Washington National. Yes, I’m serious. They actually printed that.

"Of course, anyone who has ever flown to either would immediately question what went into this ranker. So I checked. If you click the link above, you’ll see they looked at parking rates, public transportation, free wi-fi, etc. They also looked at TSA wait times. Knowing that our short wait times would have brought our ranking up, I looked to see what it was. The ranker said 28.8 minutes. I’ve flown out of KCI 100+ times. My longest wait ever was less than that on a Saturday before Christmas while checking golf clubs. My average curb to gate time is 5 minutes or less. Moreover it showed Atlanta, yes Atlanta, with an average wait time of 7.38 minutes! Nearly 4x faster than KCI. Go ahead, I’ll wait for you to stop laughing . . ."

Read the whole thing.

You decide . . .

  1. Airport power rankings?

Why is every news organization writing like TKC?

  2. Leave that fuckin airport alone.

Jesus. No one is gonna load the kids and mom in the car to "Go To Dinner" at the airport.

I am in and out of there in a flash. Had to go through Tampa 6 months ago. Gawd it sucked.

Improve the airport, fix the bathrooms or whatever.

Airports are like Harley Davidsons. If they are running, leave them alone.

    ReplyDelete
  3. ^^^ +1

Give Sly James a chance to destroy the airport too?

    No thanks.

    ReplyDelete
  4. The airport is old, outdated and ugly. This is Kansas City's real gateway to the world. Investing in something that shows we are an international city is a MUST if we want to remain competitive. That is a fact and the research bears that out even if some bloggers wants to deny it.

  5. Atlanta Hartsfield sucks. Are they talking about another Atlanta airport?

    ReplyDelete
  6. The Atlanta airport is shitty because it is connected to Atlanta. Just ask yourself this: Does Kansas City really want to take the lead from one of the worst metropolitan areas in the nation? I thought we still were trying to be the next Austin or Denver?

NOBODY WANTS TO BE THE NEW ATLANTA!

    ReplyDelete
  7. So much for this being a Free Speech Zone. Tony blocks your post pending approval if you post something anti-mexican. I guess its only free speech if you attack gays, women, liberals and especially blacks.

    ReplyDelete
  8. No New Airport3/31/17, 8:07 AM

^^^ False flag. If TKC wanted to block you, then he would have deleted your bullshit because it's off topic. The fucking Mayor's office just doesn't want any criticism of their bullshit.

TKC is my favorite beaner! See, that's not exactly a pro-Mexican comment but it went through without approval!

You fucks working for Sly are some of the shittiest people and I'll be glad when you finally leave office after all of the damage that you've done.

    ReplyDelete
  9. 7:42 How much do you get paid to post this nonsense?

    ReplyDelete
  10. When KCI was built it was suppose to make us an International city back then. Wow, that worked out real well didn't it?

    7:42 is an idiot

  11. @7:42 - Paid for by Sly James for Mayor

    ReplyDelete
  12. 8:06--come on, dog. Back off of 7:42. It's a Friday and he got to his desk at City Hall early! So he can skip out early and go party in the Power & Light district that taxpayers gave $15 million this year, once again, because they won't pay their rent--(tho they did pony up with $20 grand to splash Sly James on nine 123GO brochures to ensure THEIR sidewalks will be free.) Here's to 7:42!!!! He showed some damn initiative! Posted on TKC BEFORE he got "the intern girl" to bring him his first cup of taxpayer supported coffee. Oh wait, it's Chris Hernandez who brings coffee desk to desk.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Yeah to 7:42. Let's make Fridays 7:42 Day on TKC!!!

But the best comment, once again, goes to Chuck.

  14. Tracy needs to stay in Johnson County. She has no interest in our airport or in our election, but if she tried to pull this kind of thing in her own community she would be quickly shut down. That's why she is so interested in being a KC carpet bagger.

Support the new airport, support a better Kansas City!

    ReplyDelete
  15. Oh, Chris. STFU. Get me a latte.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Tracy burns @8:17. Nice work!

    As for the new airport.

Do you really think the Mayor and the new council will do a good job with this? Look at how they screwed up the streetcar and made it so corrupt.

Before we get a new airport, we need new leadership.

The people have spoken and this plan is all wrong. It would be a better idea to renovate the current airport.

    ReplyDelete
  17. So sad to see so many closed-minded people here who pretend to represent the interests of a new airport.

    What's wrong with more jobs?

    What's wrong with new facilities?

What's wrong with making KC the best in the nation?

The airport opponents don't have a good argument, they just don't like change. We have to move past that to bring KC into the future. Let's get mired down in so many conspiracy theories, let's do what's in the best interest of KC. Get it done!

    ReplyDelete
  18. ^^^ I imagine this guy uses every post as a billable hour to one of the law firms. Sorry guy, it's not going to work and they're going to cancel your contract.

  19. Reading through some of these comments a question came to mind?

Why do Sly and his team hate Mexicans so much? I notice that he doesn't employ any Latinos in a staff that gets up to 50 when you count all of the consultants. They also talk horribly about all the Mexicans in KC. Really nasty stuff. Don't get me wrong, the mayor did great on the immigration protests with his bull horn which were ironically at the airport. But about Mexicans, seniors or people who don't agree with him. There's a real hatred there that most people don't realize.

    ReplyDelete
  20. ^^^ I would leave it there Pancho. You sound crazy.

They're going to put you on a no-fly list.

As for the new airport, just another crap idea. Like the streetcar extension.

    ReplyDelete
  21. To answer your question Go For KC. Its simple, WE DON'T HAVE THE MONEY!

    ReplyDelete
  22. If we had a competent local newspaper it wouldn't take a blog to uncover the real facts and, if they were the least bit curious, the reporter(s) might ask if 24 million visitors seems a little high and why is the number IDENTICAL to 2014?

    ReplyDelete
  23. people don't care about an airport's "looks" .. I travel plenty (6 continents) ..and can't really recall the "looks' of any --

but I DO remember the wait times!.. La Guardia the worst, JFK, ATL, SFO right down there..

the best? --MCI!! --don't fuck up a good thing, KC, because of Democrat scammers.

    ReplyDelete
  24. yeah, i had the same. reaction about the 28 minutes and the grades for many airports. thevwhole thing didn't ring true to firsthand experiences.

    glad somebody's calling it out.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Let's get back to solving problems.
The City borrowed $10 million from the airport fund for other projects. Just like Congress borrows from the Social Security fund. Now they must pay it back--so--voila, the 123GOBond issues! Cost shifting.

The naive pet shelter folk won't even see that coming, when the City sweeps that kitty of money to covwer another outstanding bill. They even advertise that their fund would be different from the sidewalk fund. Ha!!!! It's the city's money, and the pet shelter folk are being used.

    As for the airport:
    1. We are NOT an international city. Never were.

    2. Remember when the City remodelled and some great architects designed a gorgeous floor, but one gal on the council--was it Loar??????????? said the design had arrows (from weather map prevailing winds) and she was afraid folks would stumble off their plane and walk around in circles, like zombies. So she personally vetoed that design and that so dispirited the architects they cobbled together a third rate floor design.

    3. This kind of ineptitude and micromanaging by a weak council is another reason the voters CANNOT TRUST THIS COUNCIL TO IMPLEMENT ANYTHING MEANINGFUL.

    4. And of course, Chuck nailed it first thing this morning, ain't nobody driving to KCI to have dinner. So if the Yes team has to resort to such pathetic logic, that tells you, they are too stupid to be trusted with public money.

Finally--I am not a carpetbagger. I am a refugee. I was driven from my home and office in KCMO because the City could not keep me safe from stray bullets, on Karnes Blvd or at 31st and Main, which now looks like Little Detroit. I served as President of the Shawnee City Council. I am a season ticket holder at Unicorn Theatre--but had to move my tix to Sundays at 3--because hoodrats keep shooting up Westport and the Plaza at night. I want KCMO to get better. But 123GOBond is NOT the answer.
I am a volunteer fighting a bad plan. Just like I did with BiState II and BigSoccer.

I volunteer and am public about it because I am retired. So many folk who have corporate jobs are afraid to speak out for fear of retribution. I do the research and give voice to their concerns. Let the people decide. Get Out The Vote.

  26. kcbj readers aren't that stupid. where were their editors?

    28 minutes?

    not true.

grades of many airports are upside down versus reality.

    ReplyDelete
  27. The KC biz journal fired all their real reporters and now most of their stuff is just promotional content. Business coverage is even worse than real "news" because they're so dependent on companies that can shut them out at every turn.

  29. I fly through Atlanta yearly. It takes 10 minutes just to get dropped off. Then you have to go through their mess of a security site. It often takes 30 minutes to get down the hallways to get to the boarding chute zig-zag lines, with another 15 - 30 minutes to reach the TSA. That one airport blows the survey all to hell.

    ReplyDelete
  30. I see JoCoPost (whateverthefuckthatmeans) is a "Chuck" fan... I guess she was chased out of KCMO by Obama's de facto brownshirts too.

    ReplyDelete
  31. 10:03, that sounds like heaven compared to LaGuardia.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Longest time I ever had at KCI was when my wife got selected for a pat down (bigish hooters I guess?) I was stuck milling around with two babies and luggage for about 10 minutes, that's it. I've flown in and out near major flying dates and still never had a delay for more than a few minutes. Denver, probably about 20 - 30 minutes every time (typically it was February - skiing). Hotlanta, we had been in line for 20 min when a couple of gate agents came over and took us and all the people behind us, and just ran us through an open gate. It was legit weird, no shoe removal, no bag opening, not even taking jackets off, didn't care about the water bottles filled with beach sand that my kids were carrying. I see no reason at all to completely rebuild and change the aeroporte other than to call it Sly James International, though at least we could change the call sign to something more understandable - SJI.

  34. FAKE NEWS not based on facts.

So often these days one reads fake news that's contrary to what one knows to be true firsthand.

Any reader who's a specialist in a field is used to having bogus news in specialized areas.

But now even regular, general knowledge news is often outright false. Moreover, news is selected as news with a deformed ordering of priorities.

    ReplyDelete
  35. The Business Journal organization should convene a committee to examine the sourcing on the airport article.

Some of the grading on airports other than KCI is completely askew and as inaccurate as the KCI figures.

Something's wrong with the sourcing or methodology. Or, maybe it was a con job.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Voters in KC reside in the "Show-Me" state and will rely on their own observations when they vote down an airport boondoggle project. They won't be voting based on fake news.

    ReplyDelete
  37. 7:42, I have never, ever gone to city to see its airport, nor have I decided not to go to a city because of its airport.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Somebody messed up their EXCEL spreadshit with the survey data!

    ReplyDelete
  39. good point on who the tourists really are, nearby folk coming to the big city.

widening I-70 would be good for KC tourism. not sure about the other interstates.

    ReplyDelete
  40. The number one thing KCI should do is try to get a nonstop interational flight. We need our Mayor and his boys to press the flesh with Air Canada, Mexicana, whoever to get an international direct flight.

Denver, Dallas and Cleveland all have non-stops to London. We could cut a British carrier a sweetheart deal for our international terminal.

    ReplyDelete
  41. We have international direct flights to Mexico and Canada already. The other markets you mention are larger and are international hub markets. Would have to subsidize the flight (with what $?) and still no guarantees. And anyone going to Paris or Rome or elsewhere would rather make that connection in Chicago, Atlanta or Detroit.

What's wrong with making KC best in the nation? Because it isn't. It's a nice affordable place to live with an airport that is very convenient. And guess what, 8:27, there's nothing wrong with that.

    ReplyDelete
  43. I don't know of any airport that people willing visit. They come to get on an airplane and fly somewhere else. Thinking that the shops and restaurants are going to attract anybody voluntarily is about 1955, when people really did that. They also drove to the coffee shop on the Kansas Turnpike to have Sunday noon dinner. I know, because I used to do it with my family at the Lawrence location. But this is 2017, there is a fast food joint there, and you wouldn't stop unless it was mealtime.
No airport is pleasant. It needs to be comfortable (ours is, but not the best or worst), and safe (we stand pretty high on that one). People just want to leave asap. If there are not enough outlets to charge devices, I think people will live. This is an AIRPORT, not your family room. People can make concessions, and so should the airlines and the "consultants" who always advise the spending of the $$$.
