TKC BREAKING AND EXCLUSIVE NEWS!!! SILLY SEASON STARTS NOW!!! KANSAS CITY NORTHLAND CELEBRATES 'TRUMP COUNTY' RENAISSANCE AS REPUBLICANS RALLY AGAINST COUNCILMAN DAN FOWLER!!!

The rise of President Trump has emboldened Republicans in Kansas City who have already started thinking about the 2019 election cycle and picking their targets. Councilman Dan Fowler is the FIRST to face a challenge.

One insider says . . .

"Dan Fowler is probably the weakest person on the council, he's a Democrat in a heavily Republican area."

While council election are non-partisan . . . The insider has a point.

Here's a look at Kevin McEnvoy (???) making his pitch to Clay County Republicans and announcing his bid way early  . . .

To be fair, Mr. McEnvoy's claim to fame beyond his eagerness to start bothering his neighbors for the next 2 years is that he's Clay County Collector Lydia McEvoy's husband.

Now, beyond mere community news . . . Let's put this into context in a way that lesser newsies can't . . .

With all respect to Prez Trump, the reality here is that 1st District Council Lady Heather Hall has led the way in showing Northland Conservatives that they can beat Democratic Party Insiders across the bridge.

Worse still . . . The luxury car RINO lawyers (and their wives) who comprise Forward KC won't be able to help much with an in-district race. While Councilman Fowler can draw strength from his insider connections, all in-district contests still come down to neighborhood connections . . . Also in his favor, Councilman Fowler is probably the nicest guy working on the 26th floor and that's not entirely due to the fact that he didn't face a challenger upon entering office.

Nevertheless . . .

As we take a brief respite from talking about dead strippers . . .This is important . . .

INSPIRED BY PREZ TRUMP'S EARLY VICTORY KANSAS CITY NORTHLAND REPUBLICANS THINK THEY CAN TAKE ANOTHER SPOT ON THE CITY COUNCIL!!!

Whilst the antics of this nobody contender might not merit much attention from mainstream media . . . The early contest is a sign that Prez Trump continues to influence our local discourse and Red State politics now threatens to garner greater influence in solidly Democratic Party controlled KCMO.

Developing . . .

  1. Two years out. He'll either burn out or people will burn out on him.

On the bright side, this is a chance to light a fire under Fowler and get him to participate more in controversial votes.

Be fair to him TKC, he did vote against the minimum wage ordinance.

  2. As long as the people who run for municipal office in KCMO are more interested in which political party they're members of and "what are you going to run for next", the residents will continue to have to suffer the same terrible city governance they have for decades.
It's hard to figure out what the Republican or Democratic approach to issues like public safety, street maintenance, or common sense zoning might be, but since the electeds in KCMO really don't bother themselves with such things, it doesn't make any real difference.
And all the Dems, who would have you believe that their party represents the "little guy" regularly vote to subsidize anyone with a pulse and give away millions (for Cerner, billions) of taxpayer money to "developers" like the very wealth out-of-town corporations like Cordish.
"Political philosophy" doesn't mean a thing when your only interest is doing amateur real estate deals and looking out for your next gig.
KCMO is regularly cited as among the top five worst-run cities in the country.
    Frosty.

  3. I wish I had something snarky to say about this, but I got nothing.

  4. And whats the freaking point?

  5. As long as the core ghetto of KC of packed full of boons KC will be Democrat. However, all of the upward mobile annexed areas are starting to grow full of other ethnic groups and whites and as the populous grows out of the entitlement grabbing lifestyle the city will turn more conservative. There is really no way to stop this because KC still clings to the old model that the way you increase your tax base is through annexation of unincorporated areas. Those areas are not black and near never grow black.

  6. Bye Dan Fowler !

  7. Dan won't have the energy to knock on doors. He will be this cycle's Dick Davis. His only hope is to get the support of the Fire and Police unions. Given that he's been against more officers and failing to keep the officers they have that will be a hard sell. Fowler did try to call the police chief out about manpower though. Taxpayers in his area will be concerned with public safety, roads and development. Things he has been silent about.
