Kansas City 'Stop The Violence' Season Starts

Tragically, nicer weather means more rallies, vigils, marches and protests against rising violence at the homicide count continues to rise . . . Credit where it's due, the good people who dedicate their time to these events aren't the problem and rarely (if ever) commit any murders . . . Filed under, preaching to the choir . . .

'Stop the Violence' rally held at Swope Park

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - A group of KCMO parents who lost their children to street violence held a rally on Friday to bring the community together and honor their children. Organizers of the "Stop the Violence" kickoff event hope to hold events in the future to raise awareness of the impact violence has on metro families.

  5. Saw this on the news last night. Same old thing, A bunch of obese black women dressed in ghetto gear saying the same old shit. Here's some advice for you cows: why don't you set a good example yourselves? Black women raise all of these violent black males so you're part of the problem too. How about you are actually married to the father and have him take part in raising the kid. How about you not have multiple baby-daddies? How about you and your spouse raise the kid instead of grandma. How about you get an education to set an example. How about getting off of generational welfare so you provide a positive example for your kid. How about having some expectations of your kids other than welfare, selling drugs, prison, and dying young. When I was in college I worked at a bar on the Plaza. We had a black guy that was a cook. He got his son and job washing dishes. His son, who was 16, quit less than two hours into his first day. Just walked out. When I asked his dad about it later he wasn't even mad, he just said his son would rather be running the streets. My dad would have kicked my ass. There are so many differences between how black people behave and how the rest of the world acts it is unreal.

  9. So other than replacing a Black Mayor and Chief of Police with White ones, how do you guys think the KC crime problem should be fixed? Flooding the area with "tactical Officers" and National Guard? I'm sure you would have a lot to day about that and honestly it wouldn't do a thing. KC crime issues are not drug / gang related.

  10. ^^^^^. So tell us, what is THE solution? And don't say that it's a complicated, nuanced situation that can't be fixed.

    1. I'd start by creating a Go Fund Me page to raise money for a vigil ... maybe invite the local press, have Alvin Brooks pray, then everyone release some balloons.

  11. it's a complicated situation for KCMO.
the fix is to pour money into the Mayors office and into KCPD retirement fund.
