KANSAS CITY MIDWEEK REALITY CHECK: LATE NIGHT ABANDONED DOWNTOWN BUILDING INFERNO TEMPORARILY SHUTS DOWN TOY TRAIN STREETCAR!!!

Despite the high hopes of a so-called "renaissance" for Downtown Kansas City powered by a great deal of highly leveraged borrowing and tax breaks . . . Empty streetcars and abandoned buildings are the reality amid the midweek late night.
Here's the story for newz junkies who can't sleep and heard the sirens . . .
KMBC: "The blaze was reported inside a vacant 5-story building at 20th and Main. Crews arrived and found flames on the second floor of that building."
All the commotion shut down the streetcar and the half-dozen hobos riding the line until it closes . . . Now it's running again for a few more minutes.
Still . . .
At this late hour, investigators are still at the scene attempting to determine the cause of the blaze . . . Sadly, nearly a quarter of a billion worth of City Hall sponsored investment along the streetcar line has yet to spark any kind of economic activity that isn't also earning tax breaks.
And still, we keep the fire until the morning update coming up a bit later . . . STAY TUNED!!!
Too bad. Another Ramen shop will have a long wait till opening day.
ReplyDeleteWe will rebuild.
Drive that train through it. Put guns and water cannons on that monster machine!!!!!
ReplyDeleteBring beer down from the Hop Cat place . Hipster fire brigade. Free beard singe .
ReplyDeleteBest part about hipsters.... Grandma and Granddad. Snotty little fucks begging for bell bottoms and old 33lps.
ReplyDeleteI thought I smelled dreams burning.
ReplyDeleteIsn't that the old flophouse they said was going to become market rate apartments? So much for that...unless they get tax breaks to fix the damage from Italian Lightning.
ReplyDeleteAmid Tony's blog lies lies.
ReplyDeleteWhat really burnt down was Clay's Wang
LULz @4:47.
ReplyDeleteIsn't that the place that Hereford House was next to?
ReplyDeleteThey might want to check out where the arsonists that torched H.H. are at these days.
Yeah, more lies from Tony: "...Sadly, nearly a quarter of a billion worth of City Hall sponsored investment along the streetcar line has yet to spark any kind of economic activity that isn't also earning tax breaks..." And of course he neglects to mention that exact location will be where the City Club Apartments will begin construction soon.
ReplyDeleteBut this too isn't a surprise given that Tony is a legally recognized liar who wants the entire metro to be as lame as he is and he hates on small business owners and anyone who has moved out of their mom's basement and tries to make something of themselves.
This is who Tony is and who he always will be:

And while he continues his failed attempt at stopping the KC Streetcar, much like Ahab trying to catch his whale, you can find real KC Streetcar news here:

And the KCPD girl/boys cooking breakfast and on line this morning. See you at the Price Chopper!
ReplyDeleteThere is a vacant building along the streetcar line? I thought it was driving a development renaissance? How can this be?
ReplyDeleteAnd while the streetcar was forced to shut down because it rides on fixed rails, the bus kept running because it's on wheels with tires! Welcome to the 21st Century.
ReplyDeleteThat's the Midwest hotel.
ReplyDeleteThats slander Louie and I see it so I will help Tony sue you.
ReplyDelete3:16-Uh, yes, that settlement directs neither person is to disparage the other, or each other's family.
ReplyDelete7:25-Let it go, Louie.
