TKC SATURDAY NIGHT PLAYLIST: WHAT HAVE WE LEARNED FROM OLATHE DEADLY TRIPLE SHOOTING ALLEGED HATE CRIME???

Just a few fun facts and favorite songs to finish this bit of weekend posting for tonight.

Despite so many International headlines and so much heartbreaks, it's still unclear what this shooting means for Kansas City denizens who weren't immediately impacted by the tragedy.

Let's help sort it out . . .

Bar Life Is Bad For Health

The suspect in this tragic shooting is only 51!!! We all have our challenges and we do no cast aspersions on anyone's looks . . . But it's fair to say that the drinking life doesn't do anybody any favors when trying to keep a fresh, youthful and healthy appearance.

In fairness, the same can be said of snack cakes, fast food, soda and so many other staples of the typical American diet.

Crime & Punishment Is Totally Political

Another reader suggested link featuring public outcry . . .

Upworthy: The president's silence after an attack in Kansas speaks volumes about his priorities.

Like it or not, crime doesn't escape the culture war debate . . . So, if TKC ever gets caught stealing a car . . . Remember that it was in support of further research to fight prostate cancer or maybe to support the Internet plan to dig a hole!!!

Gun Culture Makes Going Out A Drag

Even in good times, entertainment venues struggle because people would rather just stay home and watch Netflix when they have any downtime.

A glimpse of the future:

VICE: Millennials Have Discovered 'Going Out' Sucks

This fact of life isn't good for the economy or the culture but might still be the smarter option for those who know that fighting with strangers is a waste despite people becoming more disconnected overall despite so many "social" media options.

Finishing with one last favorite song for Kansas City homebodies...

As always, thanks for reading this week and have a safe and fun Saturday night.

  4. Olathe is the most conservative place I've ever been. It has the feel of a city that should be in the deep South. I've never seen so many churches. It wouldn't surprise me if other had more churches per capita than any city in America. They are in abandoned strip malls and former pawn shops. Hell the mall that just got torn down had a church in it. For a city of 131,000 people there is nothing to do there.

  5. If Trump offered condolences over every murder in America that is all he would do. After all there are 35,000 of them every year. Certainly he should not follow the libtard press around or have them telling him what his priorities should be. Personally I would think Military deaths would be a higher priority than a couple of camel jockeys out in Kansas and their annual deaths are not even included in the Stateside homicide count. Maybe the animals we call people should just learn to have some basic fucking respect for human life rather than pissing and moaning about why the president isn't making nanny state speeches about it.

  6. ^^^that is pure gold. Calls legally employed expats from India "camel jockeys" and in the next sentence calls for "basic fucking respect for human life." Oh the irony. That is just too rich.

The reason Der Fuhrer should have said something was because of what the shooter said, "Get out of my country." But, how can he when he has only encouraged this mindset among his supporters? Didn't Sarah Palin say, "Lock & load, let's take back our country"? Did the people who championed this rhetoric not understand that some people would take them literally?

The non-English have always been the victims of the English ever since they began their invasion in the 17th century. Of course, the English didn't just do it on this continent, they did it all over the world. Ironically, they demonstrated this inferiority because they imagined themselves to be superior to everyone else.

This won't be the last such shooting, because Der Fuhrer is the Great Divider. He is clearly mentally ill, but the Rethuglicans don't care, because they "just need him to sign stuff." If the Rethuglicans had any moral validity they would start impeachment proceedings against this traitor. They still have the Jesus Freak.

  15. FROM CHARLES FRONT PORCH:

It is entirely we are being to harsh on the media however if we are they worked overtime to earn our wrath. Our local newspaper, The Kansas Star once was one of the great newspaper's in the nation but now is at the best a far left tabloid. We had an incident last week that went National because it concerned legal immigrants in our country. In normal times this would have been a local story but with the media scrambling to find some rationale for throwing open our borders found this a poster boy for their cause.

One night a man walked into a Bar and opened fire killing one and wounding many. When he opened fire he aimed at a table where two immigrant engineers sat and yelled go back to your country as he shot. The Star reported the facts accurately but the proceeded to expand on they were legals and suggested President Trump caused this shooting. He might have woke people to our immigration problem but in no way was that the direct cause of the shooting.

If Hillary had been President they would have spun the argument to guns and how we had to take them away from people violating the second amendment. If they wanted to spin they have an editorial page. They reported these men were with Garmin International a well respected company founded by an American and a legal immigrant. Why leave out this fact if they wanted to spin immigration into the story.
The next day they followed up with a Front Page Story with pictures about the grieving family and how a crazy destroyed their American dream. It was accepted although not said he was a crazy Trump supporter. In no way does this warrant the Front Page story unless you are promoting an opinion rather than facts.

I am not sure some of this belongs in a News Story but certainty deserves an editorial.
Why are we needing foreign engineers?
Are our colleges and Universities not turning out enough?
Are our young people no longer interested in solid careers?
Do we no longer emphasis careers that offer real employment?

I don't know the answers but a real newspaper would ask these questions. No one that picks up this story will. In the days when we had real newspapers they fact checked each other. How can they today when all are only interested in headlines rather than facts.

  16. Was at Village West Saturday evening getting ready to head home but could not leave parking lot because KCK police had a portion of parking lot in front of Jose Peppers's cordened off with crime tape. Apparently shots were fired in the parking lot and a couple of vehicles had bullet holes, no mention of it in the media last night or this morning, maybe because no one was actually hit, harmed or killed. I am sure we will never here about this, or the perps who shot up the parking lot. I am sure it was probably just some Amish kids out having some innocent gun play in the parking lot, nothing to see here - no harm no foul.

  18. I saw this story last night on NBC's National news. They only showed the two Indian guys and never even mentioned the white guy who tried to stop the shooter and was shot as well. I'm talking not once. Look, i am sorry the guy was shot and killed. Usually people from India come here to work, live their lives peacefully and never bother anyone. I'd trade them and millions of others for these scumbags like Byron who look at our country as something to pimp out and vote for a living wastes of space lowlifes. Where i am going with this is, there's an agenda by the media against Trump. They have sold their integrity as a political tool for the left. Question everything you read, see and hear from them.

LMAO oh yea right sure we will uh huh

  21. 7:09 if he didn't have a gun nobody would have been shot and nobody would be dead. Seriously, explain how this has nothing to do with "lawful possession or use of firearms." I can't wait to hear this. Is it because he used the gun unlawfully since murdering someone is illegal? I've got to hear this. Got a feeling there is going to be some denying reality, which has been going around a lot lately it seems.

  22. One person at fault here, the suspect. If he is guilty only he should pay the price.

  23. 9:01 He didn't use it lawfully. It's really that simple.

  25. 9:01 You don't sound like the kind of person who listens to anything. You sound like the typical libtard fucktard that bends and twists truths and expects rational thinkers to somehow make sense out of YOUR crazy ass bullshit. The good news is that no one with comon sense is required to untie your knots.

  27. TIME FOR REALITY CLASS

A long-time alcoholic with mental health issues shoots 3 in a bar, killing one, before fleeing the area, only to be arrested in a bar about an hour's drive away.

Because 2 of those shot were from India (though the mentally ill drunk apparently thought they were Middle Eastern) the media has gone berserk over the opportunity to turn this into a Trump bash festival.

This incident has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING WHATSOEVER to do with the Trump administration.

I've seen no discussion in the media so far concerning mental health, alcoholism, security measures at places which serve alcohol, video surveillance of bars and their parking lots, citizens right to carry a protective firearm, etc.

There is no such thing as a "hate crime", as it's a fabricated term. The root of all conflict is misunderstanding.

As this posting correctly points out, one only has to look at the shooter's face to discern that he's likely been a substance abuser for many years. Has he been arrested before? How many times? How many DUI's? Did the city/state know that he was a gun owner? Has he received any mental health treatment?

The media has hijacked this story, failed to discuss the relevant issues, and crafted the narrative to serve their own politically selfish slant for the liberal Democrats.

  28. What we have learned is that all lives are not treated with equality when it comes to the political blithering of the libtard press.

  29. 12:43 have you seen what Brownback has done to mental health facilities in Kansas? Funding has been dramatically slashed. So everywhere that serves alcohol now has to pay to hire security guards because people with guns cannot be trusted? Do you really think small businesses like that should be forced to incur costs of hiring security? Why that sounds like more big government interference to me, telling a business what to do. That would be like telling businesses they would have to install, oh I don't know, bathrooms for transgender people. What the hell would security cameras have done? And since Kansas is the wild west concerning gun laws, it was perfectly legal for him to have the gun on him at least outside of the bar. Depending on Austin's own rules, it may or not have been alright for him to have a gun on him in the bar, I don't know their rules, not that it would have stopped him. Can anyone of you guys nuts concede one, just one thing? That having drunk people with guns is a bad idea. Or is even that a bridge too far? Or is your answer everyone should sit in the bar like Tombstone with a six-shooter strapped to their side? I'm going to Garrozzos tonight, I guess they need security at the door, after all they do serve alcohol. You've blamed everything but the stupid fucking redneck that lacks reasoning and self-control. How about blaming the pussy that can't fight like a man?
