Like it or not, the reality show President has changed the media game and completely transformed public perception of journalism more than any other politico in recent history.
More to the point . . .
THE TIDAL WAVE OF SUPPORT FOR PREZ TRUMP HAS RENDERED THE INFLUENCE OF LEGACY DEAD TREE MEDIA OBSOLETE!!!
Believe it or not, people actually used to care what "columnists" thought about current events but nowadays most of the writing from both left and right seems like nothing more than a compilation of talking points with little independent thought . . . And the impact on policy is little to nonexistent.
In the meantime, given that we're off the MSM grid . . . We've seen our KICK-ASS TKC blog community CHANGE THE CIVIC CONVERSATION with important fact checks, alternative perspective and a willingness to engage in real talk from all of our collection of rather snarky and saucy denizens.
What's worse is that as legacy media influence unravels, their resources are dwindling as well . . .
An example from one of our best and brightest readers . . .
Here's the way the newspaper reported a rather important school bus fire this week that featured students on board during the blaze:
Meanwhile TV coverage with help from social media was much more captivating . . .
And TV even offered better followup with a note about an ensuing arrest . . .
Normally, this is where Kansas City newspaper lovers would argue about the investigative prowess and watchdog fact checking ability of the newspaper . . . But that isn't happening.
LIKE IT OR NOT LOCALS ARE TURNING TO SOCIAL MEDIA AND BLOGS TO GET MORE INFO ABOUT THE $800,000,000 BOND ISSUE THE NEWSPAPER IS HYPING!!!
What's worse is that this week Dead Tree Media attempted to change the conversation with FAKE NEWS about a Kansas airport that's never going to happen.
In the meantime, a beloved alternative weekly endures cutbacks as regurgitating Democratic National Committee talking points has proven to be a losing strategy for The Pitch.
And so . . . The public is essentially voting with their mobile phones as locals would rather check their social media timelines than endure MSM force feeding.
A bit of evidence about this trend exploited brilliantly by the new Prez . . .
BBC: Donald Trump savages media at Florida rally
VOX: Transcript: President Donald Trump's rally in Melbourne, Florida
Chicago Tribune: Trump rallies supporters by renewing old promises, insults: 'Life is a campaign'
The Hill: Police say 9000 people turned out for Trump's rally
Fox News: Trump returns to Florida for campaign rally, hoping to reignite voters with unfiltered message
Most importantly . . .
Radar: Melania Trump Stuns Donald Trump Rally Crowd In Tight Dress
Sadly, the only answer to this trend that's putting old school paradigms out of biz is a continued crackdown on "news" when what media power players really want to control is people.
And all of this inspires our quick playlist tonight . . .
Selfie coverage ALWAYS stays winning . . .
Protest songs aren't our thing but this is the best one over the past two years . . .
Classic 80s Phil Collins Remix . . .
Pearl Jam social commentary from the 90s . . .
All time favorite about the futility of fighting over fleeting political power from a big picture perspective . . .
Hopefully, more for the morning update, as always, thanks for reading this week and have a safe and fun Saturday night.
Don't be a hater. Trump can't last at this pace.
ReplyDeleteAs for the newspaper, they've always been more about promotion and not challenging the status quo.
Cool videos but a bit of a downer.
Melania = HOT!
An endless campaign? That can't be good for actually governing the U.S. at some point, even Trump has to get serious.

^^^^^ no, TKC is pointing out the bias and inaccuracies in the KC Star articles. Try again.
ReplyDeleteIf only you knew how much the people at The Star all read TKC. You'd laugh. They've had his blog bookmarked since 2004 and check it daily. Let's be grown ups about this stuff. It's JUST Kansas City.
