MISSOURI HOUSE REP. BRANDON ELLINGTON AGAINST KANSAS CITY GO BONDS!!!

This morning we wanted to share DEVASTATING OPPOSITION to City Hall tax and spend policy from the urban core.

In a surprise move that speaks to ongoing frustration with 12th & Oak . . .

MISSOURI HOUSE REP. BRANDON ELLINGTON SHARES HIS OPPOSITION TO THE UPCOMING $800,000,000 GO BOND PROPOSAL!!!

As he noted in his social media blast, he doesn't often speak on local politics but "taxation without dedicated appropriations is MADNESS."

Not only does this statement remind us that Rep. Ellington remains one of the best and brightest leaders in Kansas City with the courage to stand against conventional wisdom and look out for the best interests of his constituents above all . . . This could be another hint of dissatisfaction with rising taxes THROUGHOUT Kansas City.

Developing . . .

  1. YES!

Nobody wins with all of these regressive taxes. Shame on Sly for trying to push this on KC.

  2. It's about fucking time someone in local government said something to oppose this madness.

  4. Notice to City Council Members:
Anyone who supports this outrageous scam of a bond issue, should not run for Mayor of this city.

  5. We need this to keep the wheels from flying off the KCMO economic recovery.

  6. Kudos to Ellington for speaking out on this blank check which the city is asking taxpayers to sign.

If approved, it would have a devastating impact on many of Ellington's constituents, so he is absolutely correct to address the issue.

  7. Brandon doesn't want to be a dumocrat. He knows if J.E. Dunn, Burns & McDonnell, Cerner, Cordish, H&R Block are not going pay, why should poor people be paying.

  8. ^^^Seven sensible citizens who will not be THROWED! Rep. Ellington advocates pulling back the WIZZARD'S curtain to show where that hyped yellow-brick road leads to!

  9. Sky needs that money. It would pay for an 8 mile streetcar expansion.

  10. Ha Ha Ha Ha HA YOU losing SLY Man.

  11. And if you think about it, the Burns and Macs, Cordishes, H&R Blocks SHOULD be the ones paying this as they have the property to bring in millions of tax dollars to the city if THEY EVER EVEN PAID THEIR TAXES. Good question, if they don't have to pay the tax (and they are the ones with all the money that can actually afford the tax hike) they why should we when we are far less equipped to absorb the increase?

  12. The Comment section loves to try to pin the blame of KCMO's problems on black people but it should be noted:

Black people shot down the streetcar expansion
Black council members were the ones who led the charge against Sly & TIF
Black people continue to stand up to Sly's lying on development & public safety.
And now black people are fighting against this property tax.

Just like Trump, white people own the reason we have Sly. No one else.

That's why you only see whites around him while he is shucking & jiving. There is no love for Sly in the KC black community.

  13. I don't know Ellington, but would volunteer and donate to his campaign to defeat Sly or Carwash Cleaver.

  14. Finally an elected Leader. Kudos to an honest elected offical.
