  2. How has this woman not saved a substantial amount of money over the time she's lived in the house, enough so that he SSI won't "get her by". She retired (presumably) 30 years ago, in the hey-day of Social Security payouts. Likely close to $1k/month (equivalent - clearly inflation would come into play). She should have a couple hundred grand in cash if she never invested anything from SSI alone. Yes, it sucks that she is being evicted, but she could have offered to buy the house many moons ago; she didn't because this was a FAR better deal for her. I can't even understand how $60/month even paid property tax. Mine's $70/month for the room in my parent's basement.

  3. $60 a month isn't gentrification. It's inflation.

  4. You can come to my house for $60.00 a month, but you got to give up the booty.

  5. Well there are a lot of questions to be answered here. My biggest question is this....Is her son a shithead or can he make room in his home for his 95 year-old mother? By the way she looks like she's doing well for her age and I have nothing but the best wishes for her future.

  6. Yep, bet more of us hope her son will be of help.

No biggie, but anyone else see hints of Creole for Edith? Wonder if she married into Bryant bbq restaurants' family's bloodline?
