"My brother was killed by a police officer and my friend is being unlawfully imprisoned. He has not bee charged with a crime yet. It has been over 24 hrs and he isn't on any kind of hold from his parole at this point, yet he is allowed NO CONTACT with anyone not even his mother. The Jackson County, MO prosecutor won't allow detectives to let anyone see or talk to him. They have 2 uniformed police officers monitoring him 24/7. The police still won't say why they shot the boys, why they were pulling them over to begin with or anything relating to the case. My brother is dead and it's went completely silent in the media. News stations won't even reply to us!? My friend lay in the hospital and still hasn't been able to see a single comforting soul . . ."
TKC FACT CHECK: Generally, authorities are allowed to hold a person for up to 72 hours without charging someone in their custody with a crime BUT law enforcement can also apply to extend the length of detainment for at least two weeks and those orders are much more common than most people think.
