TKC BREAKING NEWS!!! KANSAS CITY COUNCIL DUDE JERMAINE REED INTRODUCES EMERGENCY ORDINANCE FOR KANSAS CITY $15 MINIMUM WAGE VOTE!!!

The latest move from a lame duck 3rd District Council dude who at least had the courage to follow-through with previous promises to this group unlike the Mayor.

To wit . . .

THANKS TO KICK-ASS TKC TIPSTERS FOR THIS UPDATE ON A SURPRISE MOVE FROM COUNCIL DUDE JERMAINE REED TO PUT THE KANSAS CITY $15 MIN WAGE ON THE BALLOT!!!

As of this writing, he's the only sponsor listed on the ordinance that previously earned the support of the Mayor when there was no chance of the thing becoming law . . .

Take a look . . .

The following item has been added to the agenda for the Transportation & Infrastructure Committee meeting scheduled for Thursday, January 26, 2017 at 8:45am in the Council Chambers, 26th Floor of City Hall, 414 E. 12th Street, Kansas City, MO 64106.

Ordinance: 170046: Calling an election on April 4, 2017, for the purpose of submitting to the voters of Kansas City a question presented by a committee of petitioners through an initiative petition enacting a municipal minimum wage ordinance to phase in a minimum wage of $15.00 per hour; enacting the minimum wage ordinance contingent upon voter approval; directing the City Clerk to notify the responsible election authorities on or before January 24, 2017; and recognizing this ordinance as having an accelerated effective date because it calls an election.

  2. 15 bucks an hour? In 2009 we laidoff all 15 employees, hourly rates from 20 to 32 per hr. It was idiotic government bullshit like this that employers are sick of.... now, with zero employees the red tape has been cut, and the over reaching regulations are not a factor....

The best way around this idiocy is to not hire anyone.

  8. It would be one thing if the fast food workers did their job well. But the service, accuracy, and basic courtesy at these places has really taken a nosedive in the past several years.

If you want a huge raise, your performance should be stellar. That's the criteria the rest of us must abide by.

  9. Have these boss hog politicians not learned that just handing money to people neither educates them, reduces the cause of their plight or improves their log term prospects for financial security? If you want to improve the quality of life for the underachieves create training with benchmarks that require candidates to participate and succeed so that they are enabled and qualified for something besides handouts. The culture has to change - Not the rest of the world.
