TKC Blog Community Fact Check: Kansas City Virgin Mobile Shell Game Explained

Always count on our blog community to do the important math:

Virgin Mobile doubles their Kansas City headcount???

"Virgin Mobile is a wholly owned subsidiary of Sprint. The article states that “Missouri agreed to grant Virgin up to $1.87 million in incentives through its Missouri Works program if the company creates 84 jobs…” At the same time Sprint is laying off hundred in the area. Bottom line: There are fewer jobs in the area and the taxpayers are coughing up $1.87 million to the Sprint subsidiary."
