For the Kansas City civic politico set . . . AWARD SEASON NEVER ENDS!!!
And so . . . Here's a look at these downtown cheerleaders continually patting themselves on the back for the "work" they have accomplished at the expense of every other neighborhood in town.
"The Downtown Council is preparing to celebrate the ongoing revitalization of Downtown Kansas City before 1,000 stakeholders and guests this Friday, while reminding its members and civic leadership that its renaissance is far from complete . . ."
The clip that they always delete once they learn that I found it:
Developing . . .
Love em or hate em these people got things done and didn't just hide out in a basement or coffeeshop and bitch about what's wrong with the city.
ReplyDeleteCongratulating one another and giving out awards is a long-standing tradition among the Chamber swells and others who work to accomplish their goals on the backs of the taxpayers.
ReplyDeleteAnd it really makes no difference what the actual financial performance of these"projects" turns out to be, as in the case of the P&L District that will require subsidies of $15-20 million each year through 2030.
Be sure to take note of the KCMO electeds who attend and are recognized. They will shortly be asking you to vote for $800 million in bonds to supposedly pay for many basic services like streets that you depend on every day and could have been financed with all the money they've given away to the glitzy projects their downtown friends now celebrate.
Which shell will the pea be under next week?
I lived in Hyde Park for over 20 years, fixed up my house, paid my taxes, spent 3 hours every month patrolling the neighborhood and for that I was just another KCMO victim. Had I looted the city treasury I could have been a hero.
ReplyDeleteOnly place you can live in KCMO where your property assessments and property taxes go down year after year while everyone else's goes up!
ReplyDeleteVibrant and Frosty!
I love my downtown Soda loft on E. 5th St!!! Property value has gone from $209,000 in 2013 to it's current value of $75,000!

RE: "The Downtown Council is preparing to celebrate the ongoing revitalization of Downtown Kansas City before 1,000 stakeholders and guests this Friday"
ReplyDeleteNote to self: Whenever you see the use of "stakeholder" you're dealing with A-holes.
I wonder how many in the downtown council go home at night to their taxpayer subsidized condos or to johnson county.
ReplyDelete"Stakeholder" started in KCK, so your note to self is a way of life for us 8:54. We have signs with their photo's all over our very vibrant, revitalized and dangerous KCK downtown area. You have some of KCK's most vibrant stakeholders holding positions in KCMO. Just saying.
