KANSAS CITY HOMICIDE #11 FOR 2017: GUNFIRE KILLS MAN ON THE PASEO!!!

The deadly numbers for a bloody Friday night continue to rise.

The latest:

KSHB: A male was shot and killed at 55th & Paseo Friday night.

Deets . . .

"Police were called to the sound of shots fired shortly before 10:00 Friday night. Officers located a male suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to an area hospital where he died several hours later."

And once again we're AT THE SAME LEVEL OF HISTORIC LOCAL HOMICIDES that we were last year at this date on the calendar.

  1. I have an open question to the officers who work for KCPD. I have read over and over that you are losing officers, but the chief hasn't said it. I have read that your department wrote 40-50 thousand less tickets from the year before. Crime appears to be unchecked and rising. A lot has been written about the chief and his statements about his own officers.

So, what has to be done to fix your department? We, the TAXPAYERS, need to hear what should be done. What can we do to help fix what appears to be completely broken? If we need to call the city council, what do we need to say?

    1. Patrol numbers are down by half. Where rosters once had 16-18 officers per shift we are now sitting at 8-9 offficers per shift in urban divisions. OT is offered nightly. South/North/Shoal Creek Patrols all run 4-5 officers per shift. That's two police cars and an arrest wagon. In other words, one significant call decimates the entire watch. The PD is too heavy with admin positions and emphasis has been completely removed from the basic patrol function. Expect numbers to continue to climb as long as this philosophy continues.

  2. KCPD is a do nothing police department. Most of the officers try to get desk jobs. Planning and research is a great example. Some of the Officers there have not made an arrest in 10 years. KCPD is a taxpayer boondoggle.

    1. You clearly know nothing about the PD. 15% of patrol has more than 15 years average on the streets. Another 25 % has over 10 years in patrol. Educate yourself a bit.

  6. 11:33 is exactly right. It's called de-policing get used to it. Refer to Chicago and Ferguson and Baltimore. Either back your police and put up with the thugs being in control. Also blame the Obozo injustice department. Hopefully that will all change soon.

  11. Jolie Justus chubby little feet should be held to the fire about every single one. I mean, she's in charge of the task force right? She must have some ideas. Certainly it's not just an empty title that cynically capitalizes on murder and crime while not requiring any action, right?

    Shame.

  15. Forte is useless, just look at his tweets. I guess he thinks inner-city youth follow his Twitter. Hopefully new governor will replace the do-nothing board of police commissioners, which will in turn drop Forte like a hot potato.
