Downtown Kansas City Development Forever

Perspective on more local hype from our blog community . . . From this story . . . “Rather, it’s incumbent on cities to raise their own taxes and for real estate developers to “give back” and help pay for redevelopment..."

Well, KCMO has the part right about raising taxes to pay to revitalizing Downtown; but instead of real estate developers giving back and help paying for redevelopment, they are at the trough feeding on taxpayers dollars.

  2. The Kansas City Star still trying to sell that Kool-Aid that nobody really wants. I would think it has to be hard to run a newspaper where the city you're in basically owns you and tells you how certain stories will be told.

  3. Leinberger. Does us all a favor. Move to the moon or something. Thanks!

  4. Do some heavy research on assessments and property taxes in the downtown area. Not only do developers get subsidies but property values and property taxes have been going down since 2010.

You never hear them talking about this because obviously they don't want people to know.

Jail does sound good for this crew.

  5. Funny the KC Star didn't notice this fact when they were writing the fluffy article!

  6. How much did we taxpayers pay for this idiotic bash and for Leinberger's keynote talk?

  7. 7:35am - And we were told the streetcar would increase property values.

  8. 7:39am - you can get this guy won't be hired again. Can you imagine anyone with such a strange idea of having developers contribute?

  9. Bad combination:
    Urban theorist.
    And YOUR money.
Nice pay for him for a couple hours work and back to DC he goes.
If you're a resident of KCMO, you're stuck with the bill from implementing his theories for decades.
What's Sly going to run for next?

  10. How do I get my property value reduced (and property taxes as a result) from $280,000 to $180,000 like 1914 Main.

Who'd dick do I suck at City Hall?

  12. You'd be surprised how many Brainless idiotds actually fall for the Liberal KC Star bullshit they report too, in their little tiny size newspaper too,,, which is by the way 1/2 the frickin size it used to be decades ago !

Frankly I think the KC Star should just make their silly little news paper about the size of a thumbnail,,, damn near there now , compared to what it used to be !!!!!!!

  13. Great just what KCMO needs another con artist from D.C. selling snake oil to local leadership and congratulating them on their willingness to drink it.

  14. KC Star is the new value pack of coupons you get in the mail. It never speaks against city hall just like the local news in KC. Local news sucks because there is nothing investigative at city hall. Tons of news there, it's a freakin gold mine of news.
