KSHB-TV LAUNCHES YEAR-LONG PUBLIC SERVICE CAMPAIGN

“KIND KC” WILL TACKLE VIOLENCE, BULLYING AND DISCRIMINATION IN COMMUNITIES ALL AROUND KANSAS CITY

KSHB-TV, Kansas City’s 41 Action News Station, in cooperation with several local communities and organizations, will launch a new Public Service Campaign called “Kind KC.” The goals of this campaign are to message our communities that violence, bullying and discrimination are not the answer. We are Kansas City. We are good citizens who want a safe community. KSHB is starting a movement that says “not here, not now, not ever.” On December 19th at 6:30 PM, 41 Action News will present a half-hour newscast to kick off this campaign.

“Using the power of television, as well as our community and digital assets, KSHB-TV, 38 The Spot, Bounce and Cozi, along with leaders from all walks of life on both sides of the state line are planting a flag firmly in our communities to say no to violence, no to bullying, no to discrimination of all kinds,” said Brian Bracco, VP/General Manager for KSHB/KMCI-TV.

A complete list of those communities and organizations already committed to this campaign can be seen on the Kind KC website, www.kshb.com/kindkc. As you see by the names on this list, these are groups of political, social and safety leaders that have come together to participate in this campaign.

  1. HAHA!

Kind of like spraying air freshener into a bathroom where the sewer backed up out the toilets and a foot deep stew of shit is steaming.

  2. Until these folks get into east side neighborhoods around 2:00 am and "interact" with the thugs, gangster wannabes, and cold-blooded killers who are terrorizing the community, destroying innocent lives, forcing people to move out, and creating the rest of the mayhem in the news every day, this will be just another feel good "look at me" exercise with mostly a bunch of suburban do-gooders.
    A couple tips:
    Don't go alone.
Don't bother wearing your "Free Hugs" sweatshirt.
Don't study up on some college professor's academic study of sociology.
Be sure to go with a couple carloads of cops.
Please report back and let us all know how this turns out.
But, sadly, we'll most likely already know the results by watching the news to see the murder rate continue to climb.
Another example of doing pretty much ANYTHING but addressing the real issues.

  6. Nothing more than touchy-feely virtue signalling nonsense. I'm sure the TV station head honcho feels real good about himself about now, which is the real goal.

  7. If Christa Douchebil has anything to do about it she'll make it all about her.

  8. KSHB better fucking get some reporters before they even go there. They are about the worst when it comes to fact gathering.

  9. Kansas City has never been kind, unless you're White, from some other shitty town, or have lots of money. Even then, you may be outa luck. This racist little town won't ever change. Kinda like the people who live here. Police chief is still talking about a broken windows theory that has been proven wrong routinely. That should give you a clue into the future. Same people, same nonsense. A different day, time or year won't change that.

  10. 9:45 - Bullshit. "Broken windows"policing transformed parts of NYC from dangerous hellholes to relatively safe neighborhoods. It has been proven right, not wrong.

  11. Well, judging from the comments above so far, it would appear that at least TKC readers know a bad publicity stunt when they see one!

Please note that KSHB placed all their people front and center and dominated the speaking roles in that commercial. They are advertising THEMSELVES, and nothing else.

This is just like their other self-promotional commercials touting what great people they are, and why you should watch their station.

Well here's a question that I wish they would sincerely address:

How can you claim to be concerned about KCMO violence, bullying, etc., when you choose to distance yourself from KCMO? Most of your staff and management don't live in KCMO. Your station is just off the Plaza, between UMKC and the Nelson, not exactly a troubled area.

This is why so many media people are known as self-absorbed, shallow, self-promoters.....like a lot of politicians.

  12. This is so stupid. Maybe they can get the city to post some violence free zone signs everywhere. Because saying it makes it so, just like our drug free school zones.
