Kansas City Workhouse Castle Clip

A couple of years ago an aspiring local politico said he was going to clean up this space and turn it into something or other . . . That never happened and for now it's still another blighted local landmark.

A description for this clip . . .

"The City workhouse castle building in Kansas City, MO. Built in 1897 as a city jail, the jail closed in 1924 and the building was repurposed a dozen times until it was abandoned in 1972."

More in a bit . . .

  1. This was the building that Horace Peterson, founder of the Black Archives, wanted to be the final location for the Archives. But KC Museum people got involved and cut deals with Troy and the Full Employment council to renovate another building at City expense mainly to House an expanding Full Employment Council. Another deal to garner support for the current regime in City Hall.

  2. Hang a sign on the door that says, "Charlie Parker shot up heroine here", and the boom leadership of KC will make sure we pump millions into it.
