TKC BREAKING AND EXCLUSIVE NEWS!!! TOLD YOU SO!!! TOY TRAIN STREETCAR RIDERSHIP NUMBERS CONFRONT DRAMATIC DROP AND FAR LESS TRANSIT ACTIVIST BRAGGING AS KANSAS CITY GETS COLDER!!!

Winter is coming but the debate over the toy train streetcar continues to heat up.

To wit . . .

CHECK THIS WORD FROM KANSAS CITY TOY TRAIN STREETCAR CRITICS CHECKING STATS THAT AREN'T AS RELIABLE OR WIDELY TOUTED AS THE CROWDED AND BUSY SUMMER MONTHS!!!

Take a look . . .

This is interesting. If you go to http://kcstreetcar.org/ridership/, you will see that the link to the total streetcar ridership (http://kcstreetcar.org/wp-content/uploads/2016/05/Total-Ridership-by-date-11.1.16.pdf). is completely unreliable for readers. I found the information by going to a cached version of the web page.

As you know the streetcar authority originally said the project was about development and jobs. Since that didn’t work out, they have been touting great (bogus) ridership numbers. Now they have chosen to obscure those “great” numbers. What gives???

08/29 - 3,736
10/03 - 3,504
10/31 – 2,825

Doubtful there will be any riders left by Christmas time.

Now . . .

We visited these links and they worked for us after a couple of tries but our web game is strong and we're rocking souped up and refurbished machines purchased directly from the Pacific rim by way of high speed connections . . . Or at least that's what the clerk at Best Buy told us.

Either way . . . A look at the numbers shows streetcar ridership trending downward during the later months of the year . . .

And so, as cold weather and the novelty of the experience wearing off are clearly taking their toll whilst transit supporters rush to build onto the line BEFORE Kansas City officials can take a realistic look at the costs, benefits and risk of the most expensive streetcar toy train line in the nation.

Developing . . .

  1. They only win when they cheat.

They only win when they lie.

The streetcar is empty whenever the temperature falls below 50.

They should pray for global warming because when it's cold their riders would rather just stay in their cars.

  2. The streetcar will be far more useful to us all if it's city wide. We can argue about minor ridership numbers or we can focus on the success of the route. There are so many good things happening in Downtown right now that we shouldn't be bogged down in negativity.

Everyone should want the streetcar to succeed!

There's so much riding on this line and we are in the middle of luring jobs and business back to Downtown. Who doesn't want that to happen?

So I say we need to continue our momentum, continue our growth and get behind this the streetcar and the excitement that's supporting it. Whether that's Clay's plan or the original expansion, the streetcar is part of KC's progress and it deserves our vote!

  3. The same people that brought you this waste, now are going to try to get to give them $800 million for more waste.

  4. Headline: Trump makes baseless claim that millions voted illegally for Clinton

Headline; Botello makes baseless claim that streetcar ridership numbers are "bogus."

    Coincidence? Or, is it?

  5. Hurl yourself in front of the streetcar Tony and prove to us once and for all how bitter you are.

  7. 8:20, the streetcar is already city-wide. It's called a bus. Thousands of people ride it daily. Give it a try.

  8. We had a city wide vote and it failed !

  9. They are not getting the ridership numbers when not charging a fare. Would it make sense you give folks a couple of dollars for riding it? That could get the ridership numbers up.

  10. Streetcar is such a waste. No more money down the drain.

  11. The freeloading tourist are gone until next summer.

  12. Citizens are paying for the trolley. Why are they hiding the ridership numbers from us? Maybe time for new leadership that is responsive to the community.

  13. 8:20am - "Everyone should want the streetcar to succeed!". The streetcar experiment was tried and it didn't work. How much longer can this City afford to throw again $10 million a year on a loser?

  14. It will always be the take a lawyer and/or developer to lunch trolley. And the fabulous bar hopping mega trolley on weekend nights.

  15. Didn't we just buy two more streetcars because of the demand? That was another lie to get a head start on the p! Expansion. What a bunch of crooks!

He probably went on a rampage because Columbus won't build a streetcar.

  19. $10 million a year on a loser? My man says it is closer to 14 Million, particularly when the new cars and elect rates have gone up. I am voting for Autonomous Vehicles of the electric self driving type that pick you up at your front door and take you to work or lunch or what ever you wish. There are a lot of NAYSAYERS who think that trolley cars on tracks are still viable. They are in the 1800's mentally.

    LOL @ Hyper blog Al.

The streetcar is a joke. Money wasted.

  27. The streetcar is great.

But it's just a streetcar. I wouldn't expect the world from it but there's no use hating on it.

Just give it a chance to work and if it doens't, find something else that does.

So far, it's a nice attraction but nothing that's going to replace our much more efficient bus system.

  28. "Just give it a chance to work and if it doesn't, find something else that does."

Been there. Done that. Why do you think buses replaced streetcars more than 60 years ago?
