Parents, teachers and administrators are no longer staying silent about this symbolic protest.
To wit . . .
More discussion of acceptable fashion without much resolution in much the same way none of us can really decipher Lady Gaga's politically charged yet still culturally significant style decisions.
Accordingly, here's the roundup of local coverage of the middle-class debating self-righteous indignation rather than any of the other issues their not-so-silent protest really symbolizes.

You decide . . .
So it's not a silent protest after all.
ReplyDeleteDoes it distract from learning inside the classroom?
Obviously!
All these parents and students are accomplishing is the advertisement that they are sheep and prey for criminals. Their coddling of their children is teaching everyone that it's okay to be a victim
ReplyDeleteGet over it cry babies. Change your own diapers and move on. I can not believe these whiners are adults.
ReplyDeleteThe decision, makes sense.
ReplyDeleteIf the school refuses to allow the display of Confederate Flags, then the display of Safety Pins should fall in that same category.
For far too long, Teachers and Teacher Unions, both violently left wing organizations, have dominated the political discourse in the halls of Academia from the Elementary level, right through College. There is, as anyone knows, a surfeit of Liberal Professors, Teachers and Educators in all facets of the American Education Cathedral, where the Pope, Cardinals and High Priests pay homage to the Liberal Bible "Narrative" and seek to forge young proselytes for the cause.
Then in the Education-Cathedral-Echo-Chamber a "Manchurian Candidate" graduate goes on to find like minded hives where he/she can seek their own confirmation bias in "Borg" like organizations like the Democrat Party, where facts are in short supply and "feelings and emotions" are the lubrication of pernicious, insane and destructive policies inflicted on innocent, hard working tax payers, now shouldering the economic, Sisyphean crucible of the results of this so called "Education".
ONWARD SOCIAL JUSTICE WARRIORS!!! ONWARD COMMUNITY ACTRIVISTS!!! POWER TO THE PEOPLE!!!
It is my sincere hope, as a former teacher in the KC School District, that the Department of Education is disbanded, destroyed and then, like the fields of Carthage, sown with salt. I pray that these Progressive/Liberal/Fascists who seek hegemony, sinecure and absolute power by way of Illegal Immigration, violence. "demographic destiny" and legerdemain are cut to pieces by the blades of the Alt-Right windmills of which they tilt.
"Hate crimes have grown over the last month by frightening proportions"
ReplyDeleteBY THE LEFT!!!
THE CRYBABY SAFETY PIN CROWD!!!
"Hate Crimes" are the tool of minorities and the Left, NOT white people.
ReplyDeletehttp://www.amren.com/news/2015/07/new-doj-statistics-on-race-and-violent-crime/
Democrats think, that if you say something out loud and click your heels together three times, it is true.
How about some "Knock Out Game" with your self serving "victimization" lies?
By the way, dumb fucks, there was a hell of a "Hate Crime" just yesterday, at a school.
The school, you may have heard of it, is called, "The Ohio State".
Shut the fuck up.
How fucked up is it, that the "Hate Crime" trope is trotted out, implying that Whites are committing "Hate Crimes" on the very day of the tragedy at Ohio State?
Chuck you are so stupid. If those kids at Ohio State had worn their safety pins, then that Somali Immigrant, who was subsisting on Tax Payer money, would have dodged them and only run over the infidels who DIDNT have on safety pins.
ReplyDeleteGet a clue!
If the safety pin is not a political issue why was every person at the school board meeting a liberal?
ReplyDelete7:11 - Ha! Good one.
ReplyDeleteCrazy how we are at a place where a safety pin is compared to a flag of this country's greatest treasonous people. White privilege is leading a revolution because you can't enslave people of color anymore and somehow the symbols of their treachery is equal to a safety pin.
ReplyDeleteWhite people are amazing, I tell ya.
"If the school refuses to allow the display of Confederate Flags, then the display of Safety Pins should fall in that same category."
ReplyDeleteThat's the dumbest thing I have read so far today. The day is still young so maybe someone will top that but...Jesus.
Anyway, shouldn't Tinker v. Des Moines Independent Community School District be the standard that schools use to determine this sort of thing? A safety pin is on par with a black armband.
The excuse that the safety pins are not political statements is pure bullshit. They come from the media/democrat fantasy that because Trump won, their various grievance groups are in physical peril. If the district allows the safety pin political speech, then it will have to allow as well MAGA hats and Deplorables shirts. Result, chaos.
ReplyDeleteBob, look up Tinker v. Des Moines Independent Community School District and explain how that doesn't apply to this case.
ReplyDeleteAlso, Chuck I must offer my apologies. What you wrote was the second dumbest thing I have read today. I didn't see Trump's tweet about flag burning (which is constitutionally protected free speech) until a few minutes ago.
Can you burn a flag in s classroom?
DeleteThere ya go folks.
ReplyDeleteThink like 8:40 or u r "dumb".
There ya go folks.
ReplyDeleteThink like Chuck, or face genocidal rage.
People suck
ReplyDeleteSchool board is just another Kansas GOP/Nazi government body. And what did you expect? Flee Kansas before they come after you.
ReplyDeleteTinker did not sanction all symbolic speech. Schools can still ban it if they reasonably believe that allowing symbolic speech would be disruptive to the educational mission. In this case, like I noted above, students wearing safety pins would cause other students with a different point of view to wear MAGA hats etc. The administration can reasonably conclude, IMO, that significant disruption would be the result.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, Tinker only applies to the students. The administration can tell the teachers not to wear the pin.
Yes liberals, please flee to California
ReplyDeleteShawnee Mission fools are more well off than almost anyone in the area.
ReplyDeleteIf the midtown scum moved over there, you would see those lilly white cupcakes hollering like stuck pigs.
7:52 here, and I meant 7:11's funny, but only as sarcasm.
ReplyDeleteFLAG BURNIN' IS COMING TO A SCREECHIN' HALT, YA LOWLIFES! It's not just because of the "item", it's the dangerous act!
So, Joe Sixpack's little college cutie Libby (get it?) takes off her Creighton Tshirt and sets it aflamme on a public street HER ASS GETS A CITATION WITH FINES FOR AT LEAST LITTERING, PUBLIC DISTURBANCE, AND INCINERATION WITHOUT PERMITS.
Allowing anything to be set ablaze, on public property or where imminent danger is posed SHOULD BE BANNED AND ILLEGAL FOR SAFETY AND HEALTH!
Oops...meant 7:11 as the snarky one, not me (3:54).
ReplyDeleteGet ready for GREAT AMERICA! 2017 is dawning the new era--Law and Order, NOT Sloth and Odor!
Note to 'flakes: Put on big boy/girl pants and help make AMERICA GREAT!!!
Is this what kind of shit the teachers union gets involved in? Seriously? We are going to pack halls full of bone heads crying because they can't wear their safety pins? Honestly? This is the kind of crap professional educators make a priority given the state of things in public education toda?. Sounds to me like they need to have a mass firing squad - there is some fucking mental disease taking over that is stunting brain development and it is much worse than the zombie thing.

ReplyDeletetrying to prevent polarization and keeping the air clear for learning is the right approach.
those who want to inflict their views on children under their authority are acting in bad faith and should be replaced.
No religious symbols either, except in private schools.
ReplyDeleteSM school district has used common sense.
ReplyDeleteDon't worry, 5:32, the many feckless snowflakes making up the millies wouldn't recognize those symbols.
ReplyDeleteA kid wearing a Chi-Rho ring a matching pendant would get the response, "Cool, dude. Where'd ya get that "Prince" jewelry?".
The fruit doesn't fall far from the tree.. What a bunch of losers.
