TKC TOLD YOU!!! EXCLUSIVE: MISSOURI DEMOCRATIC PARTY INSIDERS RAGE AGAINST KANSAS CITY STAR HARD RIGHT TURN AND 2016 REPUBLICAN WHITE DUDE DOWN BALLOT ENDORSEMENT SLATE!!!

Today, Democratic Party denizens throughout Missouri have been shocked by a slate of Conservative Republican endorsements for a slate of statewide offices.

Remember that our blog community was the FIRST to warn of a new GOP right-wing re-branding for the Kansas City Star and now the strange election season of 2016 reveals a new Republican leaning daily newspaper at the statewide level.

Accordingly . . .

MISSOURI DEMOCRATIC OFFICIALS ARE SHOCKED BY THE GOP SLATE TOUTED BY THE KANSAS CITY STAR AND THE EDITORIAL PAGE BETRAYAL HAS EVOKED OUTRAGE AMONG PROGRESSIVE RESIDENTS!!!

Here's the word . . .

"The Star has sold out their readers. For years they have supported the Democratic Party and working people across the State. But now they're losing readership and attempting some kind of Conservative make-over out of desperation. I hate to ruin the surprise but it's not going to work. Instead, their last remaining readers are going to see this for what it is: A ploy and a cheap corporate attempt to try and find more readers. Instead, what they've done is turn their back on the most active voters and the Democratic majority in Kansas City, MO. They no longer represent this community. And they really don't know much about how this election is going to play out at the state level."

Here's the offending endorsement list . . .

Kansas City: Four Missouri down-ballot races offer choices in background, qualifications, approach

To be fair, the Star has endorsed Hillary Clinton for Prez but these GOP nods have created a firestorm today among Missouri Democratic Party insiders.

We've clipped the endorsements and candidates for reference . ..

Kansas City Star Missouri Secretary of State Endorsement: "Jay Ashcroft has a better background and the experience to run this important office, and he has demonstrated more proactive thinking in ways to improve the way the office operates."

Kansas City Star Missouri Treasurer Endorsement: "We believe Eric Schmitt is more focused on the most crucial tasks this stewardship office requires.

Kansas City Star Missouri Attorney General Endorsement: "We tip to Josh Hawley, whose willingness to take on corruption in both political parties is much needed in Jefferson City."

Perspective:

ALL OF THESE ENDORSEMENTS ARE CONSERVATIVE REPUBLICANS RUNNING AGAINST A DIVERSE COALITION OF FAR MORE QUALIFIED FEMALE DEMOCRATIC CANDIDATES!!!

Running opposite of these GOP dudes . . .

From left to right . . .

Robin Smith for Secretary Of State, Judy Baker For Missouri Treasurer And Teresa Hensley For Missouri Attorney General.

And so, we ask this question to our blog community . . .

NOW THAT THE HARD RIGHT TURN BY THE KANSAS CITY STAR IS CLEAR . . . WILL THIS HELP THE DAILY NEWSPAPER WIN BACK READERS OR IS IT SIMPLY A CORPORATE PLOY SIGNALLING HARD TIMES FOR DEAD TREE MEDIA???

You decide . . .

  1. Any port in a storm.

If you want to know the real inside scoop here TKC, then you should ask sly about it. The Republicans are all friendly with him and he's running the paper nowadays.

  2. Be even more fair.

Missouri republicans are now two parties. There are real conservatives and then there are the Trump voters.

It seems like a reasoned decision by the Star to reject Trump but then side with real legislators who can work toward more sensible policies in Jefferson City.

  3. Star is running for cover. Absolutely agree that they don't represent anybody.

  9. The Star is still the mouse that roars. Who cares what ass they kiss? The libtards still have that silly assed public radio and TV to cling to.

It is nice to know that there are two Republican parties. There is bunch that wants to watch the same old do nothing old school cry baby GOP and the folks who are tired of paying the bills and seeing little progress in return. Of course with the old schoolers fighting the rightfully nominated candidate they are going to guarantee more people will be voting against the party in the future simply out of retribution. Good move from the old boys club.

  10. Kudos to the Star!

First they fire the old and now make a more reasonable look toward the future!

They are doing the RIGHT thing and I support them completely in the makeover.

It's nice to see that the new leadership is finally looking at the news objectively.

  11. SOMETIME LATER THIS YEAR THE STAR WILL STOP PUBLISHING AS MANY AS THREE OF THEIR DAILY EDITIONS!!!

    - Tony, 2009

    That sure came true.

  12. The Star is hoping to shore up plummeting readership by skewing its coverage to more Republican Johnson County, where they see the money and the more expensive roof tops. But that hasn't worked for KCTV5, didn't work for the Olathe Daily News in the 1990s or the Sun newspapers. Objective journalism is in its death throes, and its all going back to the template a century ago of partisan agenda.

  14. "Their last remaining readers...."
Well no shit. It's amazing someone at the star might have figured out that out already

  15. the real question is whether they'll back good government and fight corruption, as a local newspaper should.

that would be a change for the better.

  16. The star stop publishing in 2009. They became nothing but a shopper newspaper in 2010.

  17. Star has been losing subscribers for years.

They're about as relevant as any other blog.

  23. Dead Tree Media really had no choice but to back Russ Carnahan. Glad they're listening to Mary Sanchez, "The Hyde And Pride Of The Kansas City Star!"

  24. Don't have much to add except I havn't read the star in probaly 10 years and one more thing-Teresa Hensley will make an Excellent Attorney General.
She is a very smart person and an excellent prosecutor. It is well known that you do not fuck up in Cass County. She will nail your ass to a wall But I will say that Harrisonville ,while still a relativly nice place to live,is becoming a safe haven for meth users, most of them come down from KC and Indy. Also the town is experiencing an influx of homeless people.10 years ago these problems did not exist there,Correction-They did ,but certainly not like today. I blame it on the recession and the H'ville PD.They need to get busy and start taking action to run these people out of town, before its too late and the town just becomes a southern branch of Grandview-Belton.Homeless are everywhere in all towns but the meth heads are a different problem and much bigger problem..I can only hope PD opens their eyes and address this plague before its too late.

  25. The problem with harrisonville appears to be there is no jobs. Aside from a place that makes cemetary headstones is there any other industry in town other than of the Walmart-tacoBell-mcdonalds variety?

They proffer white men over women.

    What a surprise.

  27. As long as Steve Rose and Mary Sanchez are still on the Editorial Board I don't think the Star management gets it.
As for Kander, once a liar always a liar. Ask any woman who has caught her husband cheating, he can never be trusted again. Jason Liar-liar pants on fire has been caught.
As for Pres....Trump is the better choice because Hillary's pants are burning too.
