ReplyDeleteLess than 1% of the population has a perscription drug problem therefore lawmakers feel entitled to have access to people's medical records? Something else is missing from this story.
ReplyDeleteAnyone who's privacy is violated should hunt the children, great grand children, and great great grand children of the perps involved in the privacy invasion as defined by the person's privacy being invaded.

ReplyDeleteEvery state except the state of Missouri already has state wide PDMP. Most prescriptions are electronically stored anyway. What JACO and STL county did is begin to force the hand of the MO Legislature to do something EVERY other state in the nation has done because it saves lives and tax payer money. As someone who had a friend die from an opiate based drug overdose I welcome this.
ReplyDeleteShe was in a horrible car accident, drunk driver hit her. She got addicted to the pain meds and in a matter of 10 years went from being an engineer, wife and mom to an addictict and then dead, It was devastating. She tried rehab 4 times. Had we had a PDMP it would have been much more difficult to get so many prescriptions.
Good job Jackson County. I imagine the rest of the MO municipalities will follow their lead shortly. One can hope.
