TKC Reader: Tell Seniors And Old School Loved Ones That IRS Threat Calls Are Fake
The longtime phone scam has continued throughout the Summer and his the Kansas City are hard . . . Our blog readers simply want to remind locals to tell their loved ones about the fake . . .
"We all know to be wary of anything offered unsolicited over the telephone, but the old IRS scam is back. These people target senior citizens. They will receive a recorded message “This is your last notice that the Internal Revenue Service is going to file a suit against you.” It gives an 800 number to call to resolve the issue. The scammers will try to get bank account numbers and routing numbers and personal information. We received a call two days ago. Please make sure that your elderly loved ones know that this is a scam. The IRS does not call you to inform you that they are going to file suit. If there is a question about your taxes, you will receive a letter from them. In 2015, these scammers collected MILLION$, mostly from elderly people. Tell them to just hang up if they receive a recorded call from the IRS. It is phony."
