TKC OFFERS YAEL ABOUHALKAH FREE BLOGGING LESSONS AFTER CAREER @ KANSAS CITY STAR KAPUT!!!

TKC doesn't hold grudges . . .

Never mind Yael continually scoffed at our blogging journey but now finds himself at a newspaper career crossroads i.e. about to start a blog.

Also, for all of his defense of the newspaper, it kinda looks like they really treated him poorly after a generation of work on their behalf. 37 years and then shown the door without much fanfare, that's gotta sting.

There's a bright side . . .

TKC OFFERS YAEL FREE BLOGGING LESSONS VALUED AT $599.99 AND LOOKS FORWARD TO CONTENT LONGER THAN A TWEET FROM THIS FORMER KANSAS CITY NEWZ DUDE!!!

Better still . . .

CHECK THE TOP COMMENTS FROM OUR READER COMMUNITY REGARDING THE NEWSPAPER LAYOFF OF KANSAS CITY'S SENIOR COLUMNIST!!!

After the news of the layoff/firing/departure . . . Local opinions weren't very complimentary toward newspapers and this opinion maker. You decide . . .

Gov. Brownback Obsession Payback???

"For the last four years I guarantee that 80 percent of all his columns were about Brownback. Or they were talking about the joys of raising local taxes. Strange for a guy who lives in MO to care so much about the Gov of KS. Four years of writing about one topic and obsessing over it. For readers it got old rather quickly. And the issue was, the Star let him get away with it until now. Yael would of been fired along time ago if he wrote for even a slightly larger market. Yael hasn't earned his pay in four years."

Yael Against Guns???

"Given his tenure at The Star, I'd say he probably did ok on a severance package. Not privy to the deets but I would imagine he got upwards of a week for every year he was there. His departure certainly begs the questions, who else of any weight is left at 1729 Grand to pen left leaning missives and do the bidding for Mayor Sly and the toy train streetcar. I'm sure the folks over at the NRA are tickled as well given the number of Twitter attacks Yael levied against 2nd Amendment backers."

Columnist Caught In Changing Times

"Yael was often unfairly tarred as "liberal" by folks who do not realize that our political discourse has shifted so far to the right that views held by moderate Republicans of the 1960s -- or even by the mature Barry Goldwater -- are now considered left-wing. (Goldwater, like Ayn Rand, was pro-choice. Obamacare is just Romneycare -- a 1990s product of the conservative Heritage Foundation. Cap and Trade is a REPUBLICAN idea as an alternative to a carbon tax. Etc.)."

Conservative Criticism

"This “journalist” was a garden variety, low fruit picking, modestly qualified (Compared to Jenee and Lewis) Liberal shill for Liberal causes his entire career."

Remember Dead Tree Media Glory Daze

"Although I am not unhappy to see you pushed out, I wistfully remember you when your column meant something and you were the Lion of the Press. Drown in h-ll you compromised, phony, feckless turncoat. You used to be someone... now all you are is a laugh line at a fundraiser for the street car."

Goodwill Among Reader???

"New editorialists and reporters need to be held to a standard of manifest good faith and professionalism. They need to convey to readers that they accept that their job is to inform other smart people for the commonweal."

  1. He should do a blog.

    I'd read it.

But we all know that will never happen.

  4. Perhaps the tobacco industry had a hand in his exit. He was always advocating a tobacco tax increase will all the zeal of a reformed smoker. Or hooker. Or something.

    Will Lewis be next?

  8. Yael is a relic like print media. As with any corporation, at the end of the day there is no loyalty to employees and Yael was a fool not to leave on his own terms and actually expect to retire there. Yael failed to adapt & believed in his own BS

Yael was a unfair biased writer who has been found out. He used his position to settle personal vendettas. It's about time the paper is trying to become unbiased again.

Anyone know the Funk's phone number at Governing.com? Fael working for Mayor Smartwithnothinghouser... now that would be a hoot! Nothing would please me more than to see a flush of the municipal drain flushing Fael out to DC as an employee of the guy who he once made Mayor of Kansas City. We'll always remember Fael for those efforts and when it turned out that the Gruesome Twosome were about the worst thing that ever happened to Kansas City (rivaling being drowned in unending, uncounted and unaccountable municipal debt brought to us by another Fael protege, Sly James, the Obese Bowtie) how he turned on his old friends, and even though he had spend years grooming the Funk, turned on him and used the last gasp of power of the Kansas City Star to obliterate the Gruesome Twosome before watching the Star itself be rendered irrelevant... as irrelevant as he has become. What say ye now Yael T Abouhalkah?

Have time for lunch Yael? Anytime, anywhere at any restaurant... on me. All you need to do to accept is write Tony a note and he will make this happen! I'm glad I got to see the day when the Star squashed you. I rejoice this moment alongside all of your fellow employees who you threw under the bus ahead of yourself in a desperate effort to preserve your paycheck. Yes, your dirty, stinking paycheck saved at the expense of the lives of so many loyal, hard working Star employees who could have kept there jobs for a few more years if the Star had given you the shoe so many years ago. Sadly, if the Star had done this long enough ago, we would have been able to remember you for being a defender of our City, a Lion Of The Press standing up for the citizens rather than the paycheck sucking hack and defender of the political and elite business class that you had become. Maybe when enough time passes, and we are no longer gritting our teeth thinking about how many years you drew a paycheck ahead of your co-workers, we will remember when you stood for something positive and good! Bye bye Fael, we dont hate to see you go!

  24. Yeah, yeah, yeah, too fucking bad Yael. Just too fucking bad. Enjoy!
