MAYOR SLY JAMES BETRAYS PROMISE TO BACK OFF NEW MCI!!! TKC EXCLUSIVE QUESTION: WILL KANSAS CITY VOTERS APPROVE NEW BILLION DOLLAR AIRPORT SCHEME??? OPPONENTS DARE COUNCIL LADY JOLIE JUSTUS TO PUT IT ON BALLOT!!!

Amid the highest homicide count Kansas City has seen in nearly a decade, Mayor Sly James continues to dedicate most of his energy to a development slate championed by The Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce.

With very little fanfare or interest, KCTV5 did an excellent job in breaking this story of AN EPIC JUNKET OF MORE THAN 100 CIVIC LEADERS taking a fantastic voyate to talk about new airport plans. . .

KCTV5: Kansas City metro leaders meet in Dallas for research on KCI airport plans

This quickly discarded headline evokes this reaction . . .

MAYOR SLY JAMES ONCE AGAIN MAINTAINS HIS ROLE AS KANSAS CITY'S TOP POLITICAL CORPORATE WELFARE PUPPET ANSWERING DONALD TRUMP'S CALL TO BUILD A NEW AIRPORT AT THE BEHEST OF THE RULING CLASS WHILE URBAN WARFARE BREAKS OUT ON LOCAL STREETS!!!

Sometimes it might seem like this blog is too hard on this Mayor and it's true that we kinda feel sorry for a guy who nobody ever loved without getting a check first . . . But this shameful bait and switch scheme championed by a political charlatan has to be the low point in a career that has seen him completely ignore anyone in this town who wasn't on his campaign donor list.

And so the Mayor's so-called shift in priorities barely lasted 90 days.

Here's the quote . . .

Kansas City Mayor Sly James said accepting a $1.25-billion offer to rebuild KCI is something Kansas City needs to do.

"I recognize that everybody likes the convenience of hopping out of their car and jumping into the security line, but airports need to address a lot more issues than that," James said

And here's where things get really stupid . . .

MAYOR SLY AND JOLIE JUSTUS ARE BACK TO TOUTING THE SOUTHWEST FINANCING DEAL THAT STILL PUTS KANSAS CITY TAXPAYERS ON THE HOOK TO PAY BACK AN EPIC AIRPORT LOAN!!!

Locals heard this offer once and scoffed but now a junket of Chamber dweebs think their excitement will carry the day.

One opponent says . . .

"At this point, we want them put this thing on the ballot and let voters decide. The public has spoken loud and clear on this issue. The new airport is a non-starter especially when Kansas City has so many other pressing needs."

And so, Mayor Sly is RISKING THE BILLION DOLLAR BOND ISSUE COMING UP in order to please his Chamber pals and this issue is once again on the local radar as the homicide count continues to skyrocket.

  1. At this rate, Jolie will never be Mayor.

That's a shame. She would have been great.

  2. I'll tell you your mistake right now. Thinking that the Mayor has an obligation to anybody but his donors and the chamber.

He's their employee. They pay him for his reputation and influence and he's simply doing his job.

    Don't take it so personally.

I'm sure Sly is a nice person but there are simply too many lawyers and big companies pushing this through. What's more, I doubt that it will go to the ballot. They want to run it through the port authority or take it on as a private entity. Trust me, the voters are their last concern. That's the way Kansas City government is run now for better or worse. Understanding it is much better than letting it get you upset.

  3. Yes, airports need to address a lot more issues than just cost-effective convenient travel.
Like ribbon-cuttings, legacy plaques, 24 year-old "travel writers" at the Huffington Post wetting their pants in excitement over what a big league city KCMO is, and, most of all, "what are you going to run for next?" for the local politicos.
And for ONE of them most of all.
    A city that works.
    Just not for you.

  4. KC deserves this for voting these people in. When you put failed democrats from Jeff City what do you expect.

  6. ^^^^^^^Failed Democrats from Jeff City elected by Failed people from KCMO.
    How sweet!

  7. ^^^Republicans aren't any better. Remember "legitimate rape"? That's forever seared in our minds and I think the guy still holds public office. It's a shame.

    ReplyDelete
  8. ^^^^Was that different from Whoopi Goldberg's claim that sexual assault on a 13 year old girl was not that bad because it was "not rape-rape"? She's a prominent Democrat, so she suffered no backlash whatsoever from the party elite after her comment.

    1. My point precisely, Bob. There is no difference between a republican nor democrat. It's an obscene American attribute, not a political one.

  9. Trump said it on the debate, "third-world" airport. He named airports all over the world as being great, but not one in the U.S.

KC is a third-class (or turd-class) city and it deserves its third-world airport.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Are saying KC is supporting Trump now?

    ReplyDelete
  11. Trump's comment did not discriminate and lumped all US airports as "third world." That would include new airports in Dallas, Indy, Austin, Sacramento and Chicago.

Keep in mind though, when flying internationally you fly into exotic international hubs with huge traffic and huge revenue to support them. When you're campaigning and flying into airports like Cleveland, Omaha and Des Moines, it's not exactly Apples to Apples.

By the way, the new Love Field in Dallas is like a mini Atlanta. Overcrowded restaurants and crammed gate areas. Better than the 30s era terminal it replaced but absolutely nothing to model.

    1. Why does tgis even matter? We have really serious issues to consider - mainly the City's sewer and water crisis. Fuck an airport, fix the sewer system. Maybe in ten years think about that airport. It does a fine job as it is.

  12. If we're lucky they'll stay there

  13. Does KC/Missouri have a process for removing corrupt and unresponsive politicians? Have all concerned neighborhood civic leaders and political groups been compromised by the mayor and his chamber friends?

    ReplyDelete
  14. I LOVE KCI'S CRAMMED GATE AREAS. LEAVE THEM ALONE!!

    ReplyDelete
  15. Folks keep saying my vote matters... not in KC.

  16. Again the drunken sailors are out to bow the tax payer's money. Taking a trip to a metro that is well over three times the size of KC while the KC city rankings are declining is a perfect example of the grandiose and extravagant thinking that is going to sink this ass clown metro area. Model your airport after Wichita or Omaha and stop wasting the tax payer's money. There is no need for an airport to be a multi-billion dollar tinsel town for the city. KC lost it's chance at glory when the African'ts took over and all the airport in the world is not going to make this town shine.

No Clinton fan here, but Trump betrays students in Trump U., investors in various casinos, etc.

  20. Today's Wall Street Journal reportd on the long walks and inconveniences at many new or remodeled airports.

MCI is the opposite and we should keep it that way.

  21. Would it be possible to vote on allocating a fund equivalent to the anticipated bribes, rebates, rakeoffs, commissions, materials diversions, and all the other illicit profits sought and simply give it to the relevant players but keep the great airport as it is?

  22. The bigger question, why the fuck is Pat Klein the KCMO aviation director??? ZERO experience. Why was he an assistant city manager????? Troy Schulte should be FIRED.

You sound like a fucking lunatic. We've been laughing about this all morning...and now again, for the last hour, since you saw fit to delete criticism that doesn't fit your world view.

Free speech? Not here, liar. You lie so much only the synchophants are left (or as well call them, "TKC psychophants.")

It sounds like the train has come entirely off the Tony Botello rails.

With every new rant the city laughs at you harder. And now you can't take it, either?

Boy is your blogging life about to get difficult.

We need to keep improving and updating Kansas City. I think you Tony Botello for your criticism and your reporting on this news but I do not agree with you.

We have to push the new airport to keep Kansas City on the cutting edge of technology and business. Failure is not an option!
