Kansas City lacks originality is an understatement. That's like say Jeffrey Dahmer had sociopathic tendencies.
ReplyDeleteHe is spot on. This town has had an inferiority complex forever, like the little smart kid whose big brother St. Louis was the stud on the football team. Well guess what, big brother is busted. Bad knees, fat and alcoholic. Meanwhile, we married the hot cheerleader he had his eye on. And Portland fans, the bloom is quickly falling off that rose, too. The majority of Kansas Citians who move away from KC, move back. There really is no place like home so long as we don't let ego-driven and kickback motivated politicians and "thought leaders" F-it up.
ReplyDeleteThe only thing KC lacks is leaders. Its citizens deserve better but when your business and civic leaders are corrupt and your newspaper is just a cheerleader for that corruption you can't expect decent people to get elected. So election after election the same retreads are in office, their only qualification is they know how to give away money to the right folks.
ReplyDeletekansas city seems proud of its lack of originality.
ReplyDeleteon the other hand, there's merit in being steady and implementing proven approaches.

ReplyDeleteYes, proven approaches like blowing wads of tax money on the latest fad, paying no attention to basic services like public safety, not maintaining much of anything the city owns, and making believe success can be based on nothing more than endless grandiose announcements, empty claims, and fawning news articles from out-of-town publications and websites that don't have a clue.
Frosty.
Sounds like the ShoMe Institute is saying to build KC bigger. More projects it is!!!!
ReplyDeleteKCMO needs to try a Republican mayor for a change. The free shit army has wore it's welcome out.
ReplyDeleteLacks originality? Quit picking on these people.
ReplyDeleteWhat they don't lack is mediocrity (the better ones, that is). it's a mediocre place. With mediocre leadership. On a good day.
