Right now it seems that the latest Summer spate of violence has finally hit downtown according to reports from our blog community and Kansas City's top anti-crime activist.
To wit . . .
RIGHT NOW WE'VE GOT 1ST WORD OF A DOWNTOWN KANSAS CITY SHOOTING SCENE THE MORNING AFTER THE SOUND OF GUNFIRE RANG THROUGHOUT THE LOOP!!!
Like it or not, the city's focus on development at the expense of infrastructure and public safety has seemingly encountered a real world fact check that shows economic incentives to corporations aren't always effective in building safe communities.
Here's the word . . .
"I live around Downtown ########## & Grand, Last night about 2:30 heard three gunshots. Look out at Scarritt building across Grand. Hundreds of mostly black people running out of the Scarritt building. One down, several police cars and fire truck respond. Blood on side walk this morning. No mention anywhere on news"

And who can forget the estimates of the Royals parade at 800,000 or the VisitKC claim that 24 million tourists visited in just one year.
If PR and hype were chocolate, KCMO would be Hershey, Pa.
