Craig Glazer Remembers Muhammad Ali

The world has lost one of the icons of sports and U.S. History and this topic dominates news headlines across the globe.

Muhammad Ali, 'The Greatest,' dies at 74

Our blog community has a connection to this tragedy given that Kansas City's own Craig Glazer produced a documentary on the champion that featured never before seen footage . . .

Champions Forever: Ali – The Lost Interviews

Craig seemed grief stricken upon word of the loss . . .

Here's what he tweeted and his FIRST reaction:

Craig Glazer: "ALI PASSED AWAY. HE WAS MY FRIEND. HE WAS GREAT. MY HERO...CHAMPIONS FOREVER. HE WAS THE GREATEST."

There are many local perspectives on this loss but none that has a FIRST HAND role in defining the legend for the viewing public and helping make a man part of the American lexicon.

You decide . . .

Comments

  1. probably Craig's best work and the highlight of his producing career. It was a solid doc and really a precursor to others that followed. The Story line laid out a lot of the narrative for When We Were Kings for those who know anything about boxing.

    Definitely worth watching.

  2. Lots of haters might rant against it but the point about Craig working to build the legend is correct. Of course the media loved him once the war turned sour but it was only through the work of people who really understood the sport that offered an informed view on this impact.

  3. Check this article TKC:

George Foreman, Mike Tyson and Floyd Mayweather lead tributes to Muhammad Ali

Probably the best written so far. Switch out your link for this one. Lots more boxing stuff here. Back when it was a real sport and before the Mexicans took it over. Ha!

  4. I luv ya Glaze, but he wasn't "great".

He was an anti-American, draft-dodging, wanna be Black Panther-cum-Muslim. Now, we are going to suffer through endless hagiographies of the "Great" man on every news feed south of Santa Clause until, finally, in a Jerry Lewis, end of the telethon moment, some flat liner puke, disguised as a news anchor on MSNBC screams into the camera, "GO KILL YOURSELF WHITEY!!!!!

    Just brutal.

    Flags at half mast?

Obama probably wants him to lie in state in front of the Vietnam Memorial he was too busy to visit on Memorial Day. The "Movement" he symbolizes has grown exponentially and morphed into the slug-thug pieces of shit we saw yesterday, at the Trump Rally, sucker punching, assaulting, tossing rocks and eggs at a terrified woman and burning the American Flag.

As Clay's apotheosis drones on, with millions of anecdotal accounts of touching the "great" man's robe and seeing the light, we can take solace, surrounded and ruled by Statist thugs, that the man that "Shook the world" shook himself until he died.

    Fuck him.

  5. Ali was a racist who said the white people are his enemy.

    And he was a MUSLIM.

    ReplyDelete
  6. Very Simple! If a white man conducted himself like Cassius Clay he would still be trying to find some pandering libtard to come to his defense. So what was he the Greatest about? Greatest big mouth? Greatest white hater? Greatest Malcolm X pundit? Greatest military draft evader? Greatest husband? Greatest IQ? Greatest educated black? Greatest ambassador for good will? Gratest in race relations? Greatest fucking what? Nope just an irresponsible coon whose racist language was never called out by the liberal press and ass kissers. If his name had been Donald Trump there wold have been riots everywhere he went. Karma nailed the ghetto rat, formerly known as Cassius Clay, 30 years ago. As usual, the black community has picked another charlatan as a role model and the pandering liberals will fall in line while we all admire new fables of the "Emperor’s New Clothes".

  7. I hear you guys. But he also did a ton of good. After he got sick in his late 30's he changed. He didn't hate anyone...he became a kind and great man...maybe would have been the first black president of the UNITED STATES before Obama.

  8. Draft dodger. Racist. Talent at boxing. Zero humility. Gone and forgotten.

    ReplyDelete
  9. OBVIOUSLY a great athlete....but also a stereotype for the troubled black man persona.

    Born Cassius Clay, Jr.,

he won the world heavyweight title at age 22,

converted to join the Nation of Islam led by Elijah Muhammad, changed his name, publicly spoke against racial integration, and stated "white people are devils."

was convicted of military draft evasion,

married 4 times and had 9 children.

  10. Did not know Ali did stand up at the snitch palace.

  11. Snitches are the original do gooders.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Anyone who is original and outspoken like Ali was in his time is frowned upon these days. He'd never make it in this day and age.

  13. Wow what a coincidence, Glazer looks like a fucking punching bag!

  16. Damn few men live a life they are satisfied with, Ali was one of those few
Good or bad, he will be remembered long after all of us are dead and forgotten

  17. Told you Glazer would write this bullshit.

    ReplyDelete
  18. I knew Ali probably better than any other media person ever, and I never ever heard Ali mention the name Glazer ever.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Unbelievable how people get called haters for not complying with the PR bullshit that has been put out there. Facts are always a bitch when you are trying to blow bullshit and smoke up people's asses.

  22. When We Were Kings is with out a doubt the best documentary about Ali and his time related to the Rumble in the Jungle. It won an Academy Award and 9 other top awards. It's your best spent money over on Amazon over any other movie about a fighter.

    ReplyDelete
  23. When does his sex video hit the Internet. God I hope he didn't do that pig Kim.

    ReplyDelete
  24. When We Were Kings was a good one Dave but Glazer's movie was much better it covered Ali's entire career and life along with the other four champs. Kings was just the Foreman fight. Glazer's movie would have won all those awards but came out in 90 when everyone was still down on Ali for being a black muslim. Thats a fact jack. I liked them both but Champions Forever was simply great.
