An innovative new project to help Kansas City veterans has earned support from throughout the metro but Mayor Sly was nowhere to be seen at the kick-off today despite his commitment to attend the event.
To wit . . .
KANSAS CITY INSIDERS ARE CURIOUS ABOUT MAYOR SLY'S ABSENCE FROM TODAY'S AIMED AT HELPING FIGHT HOMELESSNESS AMONG VETS WHICH IS A CAUSE THAT SHOULD EARN UNIVERSAL SUPPORT!!!
Sadly, some suggest that because the topic of veteran homelessness doesn't fit with the "narrative" Mayor Sly is attempting to convey for Kansas City . . . The event might not have been a priority for the politico . . .
But first, let's acknowledge the folks who did show up . . .
Congressman Cleaver offered enthusiastic support of the project in his opening remarks. . .
Mary Eisenhower (General Dwight Eisenhower's granddaughter) was in attendance with Council members Teresa Loare and Heather Hall.
In fact . . . The Council was well represented . . .
Council members Scott Taylor, Lee Barnes and Alissia Canady all showed up as a sign of support . .
Here's former Chiefs player and NFL journeyman Martin Rucker who recently announced his candidacy as a Democrat for the Missouri House of Representatives.
Now . . .
LIKE IT OR NOT, THIS WAS A HUGE EVENT AND MAYOR SLY SKIPPING OUT AFTER HE MADE A COMMITMENT TO ATTEND DESERVES AN EXPLANATION!!!
And let's not just play this off like he might have been stuck in traffic or something . . . The dismissal of this event seems to be something the administration wanted to emphasize given that Kansas City Homelessness Task Force Chair and Mayor Pro Tem Scott Wagner also skipped the event.
Accordingly . . .
LIKE IT OR NOT, THE TOPIC OF VETERAN'S HOMELESSNESS AND UNIQUE SOLUTIONS PROPOSED IN THE URBAN CORE IS AN IMPORTANT PART OF THE CONVERSATION IN KANSAS CITY AND TODAY THE MAYOR SKIPPED HIS PROMISE TO MAKE THIS ISSUE A PRIORITY!!!
You decide . . .

Fox4: These will be transitional housing for some of the 170 homeless vets in KC who are not eligible to get help from the Veterans Administration.

Mayor Sly James rarely keeps his word.
ReplyDeleteThat's been his M.O. since he took office.
I'm sure Mayor Sly James has a reasonable excuse. He was probably busy lighting the cigar of some millionaire real estate developer who also needed him to stop by with a check for a few million to tide him over if they decide to raise interest rates.
ReplyDeleteThe life of a civil servant can be tiresome, let's give the guy a break.
Not the mayor's crowd. Not many layers around. Sly only shows up to the fun parties. Can't say I blame him.
ReplyDeleteDidn't want to be overshadowed by real heroes and his neglect for them.
ReplyDeleteSome veterans are poor, some are middle class & some are rich, & this trumps their common bond as veterans.
ReplyDeleteAss hole Shithouser
DeleteProbably no money was slipped into the Mayors pocket for this so he could care less.
ReplyDeleteHe's too busy with the train, new airport, and fancy hotel projects.
ReplyDeleteThe Poor, Pitiful Poor's war on America continues.
ReplyDeleteLyin' Sly James
ReplyDeleteMary Eisenhower is relevant because....?
ReplyDeleteIs Cleaver going to get a federal grant for their free internet or do you have to be black for that?
ReplyDeleteMissouri does not have 14 congressional districts. Either this was a typo, or Tony really doesn't know jack shit about politics outside of his KC bubble.
ReplyDeleteJust another ribbon-cutting where the D-list politicos and their hangers-on get a chance for some selfies and tv face time.
ReplyDeleteCheck back in about six months and this effort will have already been forgotten and left behind for the NEXT BIG THING.
The management abilities of three year-olds and the attention span of gnats.
I am so disgusted with political pandering to a veterans. Most of them joined the service because they had no job prospects. No wonder so many of them have no job prospects when they return to civilian life.
ReplyDeleteIt took a lot of planning to get this far. I knew they could do it. A problem with a solution. Small? Yes. You got to start somewhere. They gave for us about time we did a bit more. Good news. Thank you for serving our country. May you home be protect extend and safe.
ReplyDeleteThe public demands full disclosure on Mayor Sly James military record starting with his DD 214.
ReplyDelete2:43 You don't have a fucking clue what you are talking about. Sounds like you couldn't cut it and stayed on mommy's couch where the good little pussys generally hang out..
ReplyDeletefuck those baby killer niggers
ReplyDeleteIf it were tiny homes for illegal aliens or Syrian refugees he'd be there in a heartbeat AND Cleaver would be there as well
ReplyDeletegutless, cowardly Democrat draft-dodgers don't support Veterans--
ReplyDeletebecause vets don't always obediently vote Democrat -
-like greedy union slobs, niggers , disability moochers, Latinos and other Demosleazeball scam groups.
He had to be at the big taxpayer subsidized Commerce Tower Hype Fest today. Where else would he be?
ReplyDeleteBrought to you all because of a Trolley Stop!
Mayor out of town, but his honor office should have a rep at the event?
ReplyDeleteSly is a grocery store clerk for the chamber. Nothing more and nothing less.
ReplyDeleteC'mon, there may be a decent excuse for Sly guy's no-show today. Coulda been some health concern for him or someone close. A Kyle catastrophe, perhaps.
ReplyDelete2:43 and all other sorry *ss haters have no clue. The majority who serve successfully, short term or
full career, freely choose
military opportunities.
There's good reason for
preference in hiring good
vets. Winners vs. Whiners, and it's great when Americans are classed in the former.
In the picture which one was Martin Rucker?
ReplyDeleteMayor James and "Tiny" anything don't go together!!
ReplyDeleteKansas City Mayor James is the only celebrity this cow town will ever know.
ReplyDeleteNo Federal Funds. No Federal rules. This is a group of guys who started a not for profit. I walked through the house and it is great. I've sent them ny donation so should you.
