TKC TOLD YOU SO!!! SOUTHWEST AIRLINES AND MAYOR SLY PROMISE KANSAS CITY 'FREEBIE' SINGLE-TERMINAL AIRPORT!!!

Credit to our blog community . . . We talked about their first thing in the morning and now it's news fact.

To wit . . .

WITH A LITANY OF PROMISES WITH VERY LITTLE OBLIGATION OR DEETS . . . THE AIRLINES SAY THEY'LL COVER KANSAS CITY'S AIRPORT IF VOTERS BACK THE BONDS!!!

And still after two years there's no definitive drawings or designs to let Kansas City voters know what they'll be paying for . . . City Hall is getting closer to finalizing a final amount close a BILLION bucks but we're still talking about what's pretty much a blank check that the council must decide to sent to the ballot by the end of May.

Either way . . . Kansas City is on the hook for this idea that NOBODY seems to want but Mayor Sly and the Kansas City Aviation dept.

Check contradictory reporting from Kansas City mainstream media . . .

KC Biz Journal: Kansas City voters would weigh in on bonds for a $964 million terminal in August, if a committee studying the issue gets its way.

Newspaper: The airlines have agreed to back the debt on a new terminal, projected to cost about $964 million in 2015 dollars. He said they do not agree to any other option for modernizing the airport, such as major renovations to the existing 43-year-old horseshoe terminals.

Fox4KC: Kansas City City Council faces its biggest decision yet: The future of the airport

City Hall: Here's the presentation made to the airport committee.

You decide . . .

  5. The airlines are guaranteeing nothing. No guarantees of additional or current service. They say they cover shortfalls but they are not required to continue to do so if they leave the market. And there is nothing that says they can't renegotiate if they later decide it's a bad deal.

  6. I don’t trust these airlines. I only trust SAM GRAVES and TERESA LOAR. First, SAM GRAVES is a hobbyist pilot which makes him an expert on running airlines. He knows way more than the executives from Southwest, Delta, American, Frontier and United. When American Airlines says that, “Without a new terminal, we will not and cannot grow,” then clearly they need a man like SAM GRAVES to show them how to do it. Second, TERESA LOAR used to be a ticket agent or something like that for some airline which makes her an expert on running airlines, even though she seems to get fired from every job she has ever had. She knows way more than any executive from these corrupt airlines who have obviously been bribed. When Southwest says they have 25 more flights in St. Louis even though it is in the same size of metro, just because St. Louis has a better terminal, then clearly they need a woman like TERESA LOAR to show them how to cram more passengers into the horseshoes.

With leaders like SAM GRAVES and TERESA LOAR, I can rest assured that KC will remain in the same class of city like Tulsa and Birmingham. Hear, hear!

Airlines must be wanting to bankrupt KCMO so they don't have to be pestered about putting a hub here. Which will never happen.

  10. Are we really talking about trusting the airlines?

Does anyone remember how these creeps ALWAYS leave their investors in debt and on the hook for millions of dollars? KC really is home to a lot of rubes and suckers. We need to have more accountability at city hall.

  11. So you borrow $1.250 Billion and you don't have to pay it back, and Southwest won't pass their higher costs on to me!

Sure! How stupid do these City bureaucrats and Sly think we are?

Only in a KCMO! Time to move to Leawood, like all the guys promoting this!!

  12. The city will have to issue the bonds because the airlines credit sucks! How many times in the last 30 years have they filed bankruptcy? What's to stop that from happening again and then KCMO is stuck with what will be 2 Billion in bond debt!!
