In this clip Kansas City citizen media talks with #RYANSLIFEMATTERS On "The Kill Zone Of 13th And Grand" and amid ongoing protest in the aftermath of a shooting in the Summer of 2013 that still resonates with local student protesters.
Amid ongoing social justice complaints that some feel contribute to the rising murder rate . . . KCPD investigates a Kansas City overnight homicide while this local debate continues.

"The Sprint Center was emptying the seats of concert goers dressed in country punk prom dresses going to see some comedian their dad grew up watching when he baby sat them 18 years ago. Ryan Stokes however, was not much older than the high school graduates in town this evening. The one exception is Ryan Stokes wouldn't be there to be a designated driver ever again. More people are killed texting than drinking these days and common sense tells us drunk drivers should be locked up. So where has common sense taken us? Ryan Stokes was clutching a cell phone when he died with car keys in his hand and Ryan Stokes was shot . . ."

It was a great night for Kansas City.
ReplyDeleteCrowds of people were on downtown and westport streets.
There was also a diverse and well populated crowd on the plaza.
There was no fighting and very little reason to suspect trouble. There are some people who just can't be happy and this is a good sign of that. These students are earnest and that should be respected but if they want to protest something, they might want to think about their job prospects after college.
Kansas City was, and maybe still is a good place to reside when no other city wants you. Or you can't make it in any other city.
