We try to ignore most B-list actors who swing through this town but this topic is perfect for Sunday night . . .
A few days ago, we got this message regarding the 2000 Big Slick faux political promo signs advertising a benefit for Children's Mercy hospital . . .
TKC Comments: "I guess it is OK to violate Kansas City's sign policy if it is for charity?"
Remember . . .
A stringent sign ordinance passed back in 2012 was one of Mayor Sly's first big actions along with help of the city council.
Sadly, Mayor Sly and most politicos regularly break the public signage rules they created . . .
Newsman Jim Fitzpatrick writes about this one as well in an EPIC post that's WELL WORTH a read: Big Slick ’16 — Not so damn slick at all. Actually pretty damn stupid putting up 2,000 yards signs without getting people’s permission.
Surprisingly, quite a few old dudes are up in arms about this one in what's tantamount to a "get off my lawn" complaint OR yet another example of Kansas City hypocrisy (for a good cause) in action.

They should just up the earnings tax another percent and shut the fuck up. If this had been another corrupt politicians sign that appeared in my front yard I'd have been miffed and altered it accordingly. As it stands, it's funny and for a GOOD organization that isn't up to the gills corrupt.

ReplyDeletePoorly executed ---The signs do not read at forty and they do not say anything after you stop to read one.
Campaign signs usually portray (1) the advertiser (2) the PR company that designs them. In this case it makes Childrens Mercy look childish and Blacktop look inept.
One might say that the effort failed --except that it accomplished one thing --I saved me I will not make the mistake of calling Blacktops.
