And what's worse is the cruel reality that there simply no future in working low end fast food jobs . . . So many advocates would be far better off searching for other gigs.

ReplyDeleteTrying to explain common sense and economics to these so-called Fair Wage advocates is like trying to tell Byron he could be working the same as most of us do, but chooses instead to be a bum and then bitches about it.
ReplyDeleteI know of several jobs out there that pay 15 or more an hour, and they are not being filled due to non-educated people or people with horrible job records who are not able or reliable to perform the jobs and are not seeking them.
Simply put, if you want to make more money, then get off your ass and do something about it. As I have said before, these ass clowns don't want this 15 an hour to live better; they want it so they can work less and still claim poverty.
Like someone thought the 6 and 7 figure salary uber-liberal Democrat Cali profs and admins were actually gonna take a pay cut to help out the working class ??

Yes, increasin minimum wage will lead to job elimination, and a change in job description where the complaintants won't qualify. Its a case of six of one thing and half a dozen of another.
ReplyDeletePlease keep in mind that with the rate of violence, there are plenty of openings which pay much more in the medical and funeral industries. No pulse or brain activity required.

You have to make a business work and when the numbers tell you that payroll is too damn high to get the bills paid folks are going to go. If there was a way to get rich flipping burgers someone would have done it by now people.

People who are blind or visually impaired can perform almost any job you can imagine: lawyer, artist, accountant, secretary, customer service representative, food service worker, factory worker, financial analyst, teacher, medical transcriptionist, day care worker, counselor, computer programmer, cook, salesperson, ... and the list goes on.

ReplyDeleteIf the job can't pay a living wage then it's of no use to society. So if paying a living wage means cutting the employment in the fast food sector then so be it. Free those employees to a field where they are actually needed.
ReplyDeleteHonestly automated ordering kiosks are better than some of these minimum wage hood rats. Perfect example is the Popeye's off Stateline & 103rd or the Popeye's off Main & Linwood.

ReplyDeleteAlso companies can only hire and train a driver if the applicant can pass a DOT physical (breathing?) and a drug test (Oh OH!) and they have to have a clean driving history for three years (OH OH! again). Since the companies don't hire and train drivers in running from the cops many need not apply in the KC area.
