Kansas City Tech Scene Stays Losing

After years of Internets hype . . . The Kansas City tech scene still hasn't created many jobs or helped to drive local influence. Take a look: "Of the country’s 50 largest metros, Kansas City ranked 34th, behind peer cities St. Louis (28th) and Oklahoma City (24th) but ahead of Louisville (39th). Kansas City ranked even lower (42nd) for tech talent, a measure based on tech employee retention rates, percent of population with computer or math degrees, and the number of computer science degrees being awarded." 1. Tech workers across the nation should witness a massive pink slip parade this year.

    Have a happy 2016!

  2. Silicon Prairie... ROTFLMAO. This Mayor is nutz. Admit him into the nearest psych ward with heavy psychotropic drugs and a straight jacket.

  3. KC never was much tech. With crappy trade schools and promises of high dollars hundreds of students enjoy a great tech career of refilling toner cartridges, being a member of BBuys dipshit Geek squad and making slightly above minimum wage at the local hospital assisting old office ladies with their locked upo computers. Pretty hard to believe this was once the center for Compuserve.

  6. No tech companies are going to move to KC & $50K grants to tech startups isn't enough to buy toilet paper for the bathroom. If tech startup has a good idea, angel investors are lining up to sent millions their way. City Hall is totally out of touch with reality.

  7. But KC is the arts capital of the country!
And the entrepreneurial capital of the civilized world!
And millenials from all over the US are flocking to live downtown!
Of course it's the tech center of the USA. How can you look at Start Up Village on State Line and think otherwise?
And how can you possibly think that Sly and the gang are out of touch with reality?
Welcome to Sly's taxpayer-funded amusement park!
