For the late night, check out the Gold Standard Of local discourse talking Kansas City airport plans for the future and the ongoing political/economic slap-fight with the Sunflower State.
Take a peek:
"Mike Shanin interviews Dr. H.C. Wallace about "Telling Your Story: A Time and A Place" which provides an opportunity for veterans to work through war trauma through writing. Mary Anne Murray Simons, Theresa Garza, Jon Stephens and Patrick Tuohey discuss competing plans for the future of KCI, Gov. Sam Brownback's call for a truce in the business border war and transgender legislation in Kansas."
Hopefully, more for the morning update . . . STAY TUNED!!!
The airport boon doggle could bankrupt kansas City.
ReplyDeleteThank you ruckus for discussing it since we may not get to vote on it!
The week that everyone realized Brownback didn't know what he was doing.
ReplyDeleteThey need a better theme song and maybe get some more Asian dude eye candy!
ReplyDeleteThat would be nice.
ReplyDeleteShanin is all class; a first-rate host.

ReplyDelete^^^^^what he said^^^^^^
ReplyDeleteWELCOME TO CIRCUS "SURKUS" !!! That weekly canned hash for thought-programming fight over the news of the day and the trends of the time.
ReplyDeleteNow let me begin working through my "war trauma"....from having suffered the Liberal terrorist's attempt to subterfuge the American Republic.
It goes without saying, because KCPT SURKUS producers are nothing if not thoroughly consistent in their lopsided version of balanced discussion, that once again for the UMPTEENTH time, the invited panel will consist of three Liberal Democrats spouting the local Lib-Speak talking points of BIG GOVERNMENT / BIG TAXES versus a sole sane panelist representing the intelligent, coherent policies of limited government and conservative fiscal policies.
The airport question is the main entree tonight. Now, straight to the panel:
Mary Anne Murray Simons -- Freelance Writer/Consultant What? Here's a good rule of thumb to consider when noticing all these self-described "consultants" making their appearance on SURKUS. A generic "consultant" means that you're unemployed. Anyone and everyone can be a consultant! When I ask a waitress what's the soup of the day, she's a "consultant" for my diet. If an individual actually has a marketable skill or area of expertise, they would be for example, an "aeronautical engineering consultant" or "electronic security consultant" or any myriad of others. Also, is there something inherently ingrained in the mind of a Liberal woman which causes her to elongate her name? Hillary Rodham Clinton comes to mind immediately. Upon further reflection, I believe it must be more inline with the way we identify criminals like Lee Harvey Oswald or John Wilkes Booth. Regardless, you won't hear anything original emanating from Mary Anne Murray Simons' mouth, just repetitive group-think which has been unanimously agreed to after much "collaboration", "team-building", and "stakeholder dialogue workshopping." See you at the next Transgender / White Privilege conference....NOT!!
Jon Stephens -- On the airport issue, Mr. Stephens states that the terminals have served us well for 40 years, BUT, the issue has been researched, discussed, and the point has come to rebuild for the next 40 years. Hmm, I wonder how Mr. Stephens became informed on the subject of airport terminal design, lifespan, and construction? I ask, because until the Mayor and local corporate business elite began pushing this BILLION (+) dollar monstrosity, I don't recall Mr. Stephens ever broaching the subject. If an airport terminal lifespan is 40 years, as he would have us believe, shouldn't he have been increasingly raising this issue over the last 5 years or more? I only wish Mr. Stephens was equally emphatic about the lifespan of KCMO's basic infrastructure like water/sewer pipes, some of which date back well over 100 years! Now, let's step back for a moment and remember who Jon Stephens is, and how he makes a living.
Mr. Stephens is the former manager of the Cordish Co.'s Power and Light District, the one which hoodwinked KCMO political leaders with extremely over-inflated rosy economic projections which have NEVER materialized, and CONTINUE to siphon MILLIONS (10-15) of dollars annually from the KCMO budget. Currently, Mr. Stephens is a "consultant" (or escort service?) based in Prairie Village KANSAS (because he loves KCMO so much!) who donates to Mayor James and Company while seeking contracts to serve as a media parrot (Jonny want a cracker?) for the political/business elite's talking points. I challenge any SURKUS viewer to find a single instance whereby Jon Stephens spoke ANY dissenting words against a policy/program of Mayor James or the business community......and he's been invited on this program much more often than most panelists. Simply put, Jon Stephens can't be trusted, because he's being PAID to say what he does! In essence, you can think of him as a used car salesman who's trying to pass off flood-damaged, odometer-tampered rust buckets as a one-owner creampuff. Steer clear!
ReplyDeleteTheresa Garza -- Ms. Garza's appearance again on this program seems to confirm that SURKUS producers have NO STANDARDS whatsoever. While we understand that she's attempting to rehabilitate her public image, when you've shattered your integrity into a million pieces through your own malfeasance, sometimes the best strategy is to go underground for a number of years and hope that everyone forgets you. The screen title under her name says "Lincoln Consulting" ? A penny for her thoughts? I'll pass!
Patrick Tuohey -- Mr. Tuohey is the last panelist to be heard from, no doubt because SURKUS producers wish to brainwash viewers with the opinions of the new single terminal cheerleaders before allowing any intelligent thought to seep into their consciousness. Let's hear from Mr. Tuohey batting clean-up on the airport terminal issue -- "Let me just say, I disagree with almost everything that's been said at this table. Other cities across the country have done this, San Jose/Cincinnati/Sacramento, which took on billion dollar projects and saw servicing costs go up while air service went down. The KC airport is perfectly fine to service the population that we have in this area. The Aviation Department has misled the public, misled the Council, misled the KC Star, and has no credibility to push this forward. The devil is in the details and we don't know any of the details." Sure sounds like a wise and prudent approach to me, from Mr. Tuohey.
Did anyone else notice Jon Stephens immediate misappropriation of the term "hollow victory" after Patrick Tuohey had just scored a good point using that phrase? That might qualify as a micro-aggression if Mr. Tuohey were inclined to protect his intellectual property from brazen theft by Liberal talking heads.
VERDICT = Simons, Stephens and Garza are judged GUILTY of public INCOMPETENCE and remanded to the custody of the SURKUS clowns for confinement in a tiny car, while wearing a red nose and bowtie, for a period not to exceed one month.
Mr. Tuohey is hired as RINGMASTER and tasked with parading the elephants down to City Hall and instigating a stampede up the stairwell to the Mayor's office whereby the herd will proceed to relieve themselves before safely parachuting back to street level.
Well, we know whose is bigger....
ReplyDeleteWow^^^^ I Love The Truth ^^^^^^^ You didn't make any friends! But me.
ReplyDeleteFor the WIN @ both 1:13 & 1:14. NICE!
ReplyDeleteAgreed!
ReplyDelete1:13 and 1:14 FTW.
Brilliant.
How do you people of Kansas City Mo stomach this?
ReplyDeleteLow energy at it's finest
ReplyDeleteThere has to be serious lead levels in the KCMO drinking water. That's the only explanation left at this point.
ReplyDeleteThe real agenda will remain unopposed as long as these panelists can masquerade as their own opposition.
ReplyDeleteI don't watch PBS KCUR liberal bullshit TV.
ReplyDeleteThis show is about keeping all the rackets going.
ReplyDeleteShow should be named RACKET
