Downtown Kansas City Old-School I-670 Parkland Covering Idea Resurfaces

Some very nice people who don't know how vicious City Hall politicos can be are attempting to recycle the idea of covering the Downtown Loop with parkland.

Some people don't know this idea is a notion that's nearly 10 years old . . .

Pitch 2008: HNTB proposes parkland over Interstate 670 & so far, downtown parks disappoint

The chatter was immediately seized upon by consultants who know it doesn't stand a chance but it's the kind of nice "green space" chatter that keeps locals distracted from the MILLIONS UPON MILLIONS given away to entertainment district developers every year.

You decide . . .

  1. Why should HNTB be left out while Sly's consultant and engineering/architectural firm gravy train continues to roll?

  2. Who brought this up? Seems like TKC is pushing for this, like he did with the streetcar while publicly pretending to hate it

  3. This is the WHOLE problem in KC. We just do not have enough projects and shit to spend that E Tax on.

    Boycott Kansas Shitty!

  4. Parks??? These guys are nuts. Downtown needs free, convenient parking.

  5. We need free convenient parking for when we are going downtown to see all the vacant parking lots everywhere.

Go back to Olather, you fucking hillbilly.

  6. HNTB is still salivating about the $2 million slop that Cleaver tossed them. Now $3.5 million is going to the same dregs for more tired-ass, never-to-be-realized ideas on the north side of the loop.

  7. It would become a homeless drinking spot, oh boy!

  8. And the Tonys left behind club hit count keeps falling...

Have fun pining for the dreams of the 80s rubes.

Meanwhile the rest of us just shake our heads and laugh at you

  9. ^^^ Be careful not to choke on the kale while you are laughing. This plan is pure b.s. and just something to make the jobless crowd feel good about themselves.
