ReplyDeleteJC always gets blamed, but white only covenants were well established decades pryor to the Plaza and the surrounding neighborhoods.
Hyde Park, Squire Park and Longfellow all had white only covenants as far back as 1920's .
Hyde Park's covenant also fought multi family housing. Covenants later became homes associations, yet till this day are all,or predominantly white.HPNA Hyde Park neighborhood association being the probably the most historically Rascist,still has very few black homeowners and has an all white board of directors. The BBC's report exposed the disparagement,Hyde Park as of 2016 is 97 % white.
