Buried in recent write-up about so-called "smart kiosks" is a bit of info about Kansas City tech trouble and the realization that more toys along the streetcar line don't really do anything . . .
"The kiosks were having trouble playing video, and to fix the problems they needed better audio-video cards, as well as more bandwidth from the public Wi-Fi network in order to boost refresh rates."
It's also interesting that these toy train streetcar gadgets aren't yet providing wi-fi as previously reported . . . Which makes them even more useless.
You decide . .
The kiosks will pay for themselves in 10 years?
ReplyDeleteUnlikely.
25 kiosks? All within walking distance of each other.
ReplyDeleteThat seems like an awfully big redundancy.
Not very smart at all.
More money for Cisco systems.

Vote YES on the E TAX for more wasteful inappropriate spending of your taxes. YOUR money pays for this foolishness!
ReplyDeleteKeep voting yes for progress!
Another empty shell of gaseous public relations
ReplyDeleteSo what you are saying is that in spite of the junior grade, over paid, bureaucrat It people, not a fucking one of them considered hardware specification when blowing the tax payer's money on these hi-tech hurdy-gurdies? Damn! what genius. Afro-American Engineering at it's finest.
