Kansas City Gives More Taxpayer Cash To Cordish Two Light Luxury Apartments!!!

One day before Mayor Sly's State Of The City Speech . . . Here's another sign of his agenda mostly focused on big money projects and neglect for most of the city. Take a look:

"Cordish, which developed the Power & Light District, will be getting $17.5 million as part of a larger bond sale that the Kansas City Council approved last week. The $17.5 million will pay for a new parking garage underneath the 300-unit apartment building, as well as a $17,000 subsidy for each luxury apartment."

Q: Mayor James, how can you subsidize each luxury apartment unit to the tune of $17k, while folks on the East side have been living next to city-owned dilapidated abandoned homes with trash in the yards for years?

"We'll make it up on volume!" -------Sylvester James, recipient of campaign cash from the Cordish Company of Baltimore Maryland.

  5. My company worked on first tower. Took about 7 months to get paid and that's after we got beat down to nothing on price. Cordish promises second tower will go smoother. Terrible construction managers. No thanks

  6. IT'S TIME FOR A KCMO CITY GOVERNMENT MATH LESSON

If the team of James and Schulte, duly sworn to represent the best interests of KCMO taxpayers, wish to allocate resources and accurately prioritize the needs of residents accordingly, do they FIRST implement Choice (A) or (B)?

    CHOICE (A)
($17,000 city subsidy per unit) X (300 Cordish luxury apartment units) = $5.1 Million

    CHOICE (B)
($8,500 demolition cost per unit) X (600 KCMO dangerous buildings) = $5.1 Million

If you chose CHOICE (B), you are likely a wise, honest, and conscientious representative of the public. You are also naive to the ways of corrupt KCMO city politics!

The incorrect, but nonetheless first choice of Team James/Schulte is (A), because you have many opportunities to reap personal benefits from a wealthy out-of-town development company who seeks favors from you. Choice (B), while the obvious responsible selection, affords little if any opportunity to seek personal gain. Always remember that this is NOT an altruistic team, and the game being played is "Pay To Play"!!

  8. None of these projections matter on the bonds. If they are wrong tax payers will pay the shortfall.
